I wonder if any of those 1300 Marines mentioned earlier said anything about finding, killing or capturing any Canadian citizens working with the insurgents.

Hmm.....

No they didn't, but they did mention other countries that I cannot pass on...Ones you wouldn't believe. Just like I couldn't believe Canada!

Funny how American, Guns, Shooting, Bombing, and War go together so easy.

Sounds like there is some jealousy there. You must be one of the liberal 'Minority' in Canada we were talking about earlier on in the post.

Don't worry, we can teach you how to shoot, fight, and blow things up. I've done all that, and its really fun!!! [guitar] [guitar]

I live in far northern N.H. near the Canadian border. We only get a few radio stations, and most are Canadian. Many broadcasts are in English, so I listen in sometimes, but not often, because it winds me up too much. I constantly hear slanted views against the U.S., our government, and our policies. I know not all of the Canadian citizens feel that way, but when you have the government running everything, they push their opinion on the citizens. I guess its not unlike our Liberal media, but it still bothers me to hear them talk trash about us.

By the way, much of my family is Canadian...my in-laws, and most of my father's family have Canadian background.

In an earlier thread, I made a comment about all of the middle easterners interviewed after the plane crash around Montreal.

I really don't think Canadians are jealous of the way Americans do things. There is admiration of the strength of your country for sure. The problem is in an Americans opinion there is only one way to do things....The American Way. That's the only way you see it, there is no grey area. If someone doesnt conform to doing it your way then they must be wrong. About 2 years or so ago The United Nations disagreed for the reasoning for your plan of attack. Didn't matter, the U.S. went ahead anyway, and today there is still no weapons of mass destruction. Your whole country supported your Gov't. Go figure.

In a recent trip down to Kentucky I started a conversation with a man who happened to be from Florida. I told him I was from Ontario. We talked about how nice the State of Kentucky was and he mentioned he was planing on a trip up to northern Michigan that fall. I asked him if he had ever been in Ontario. The whole tone of the conversation immediately changed...he replied, why on earth would I want to go there? I tried to explain to him that Ontario is a pretty place in the fall. There was no convincing him...I walked away thinking that's typical.

Canadians on the other hand are the opposite extreme. We'll do anything for anybody. People come here from other countries and the next thing you know we are ready to conform to doing things their way. We were all set to change the R.C.M.P.'s uniform. A member from another country who joined thought his rights were violated because he couldn't wear his national headress while he was in uniform. Maybe we did change the rules for him, I really can't remember. Holy crap!

It's too bad that Canada and the U.S. can't find a happy medium on the way we veiw things. That's just the way it is. I think maybe in a certain way we balance each other out.

That's it.....I have to take one of my kids to Hockey, have a good day. :)

Being a Canadian also my take on this would be to eliminate anybody Canadian or other that goes against the US forces. We do not want him back and our country is getting taken over by immagration.

If our prime minister was to step on a land mine or something the West would [guitar] .

How soon you forget. You do remember Gulf War I right? The UN passed 17 resolutions demanding Iraq conform to the terms & conditions of surrender Iraq made in the FIRST Gulf War in 1992. You seem to forget Iraq was ignoring the terms of surrender they agreed to. To see this you must remember back to 1992, but that is not a popular thing to do. It's hard remembering all the facts. But you seem to have forgotten that.

The UN wanted to wait. Why? So they could continue to loot the Oil for Food program of Billions $$$$ to put in their pockets? Okay, so that's not it, you want to wait 6 months more? (against what our Generals wanted to do, the most brilliant military minds the planet has ever seen, but you know better right?) Then you just killed hundreds more of US troops because you are now attacking the deadly heat of the desert summer. Leave the war making to those who know what they are doing.

Okay, let's try this on for size. Is it my understand you want Sadam to be put back in power? To rape, tourture, and murder hundreds of thousands more? To threaten the world's oil supply and there by YOUR countries future? You really think the world is better off with Sadam in power? Are you serious? Why don't we hear from one Arab country seeking Sadam's return to power? Are you serious?

Okay, so you don't want Sadam back in power, so it was a timing issue? You wanted to wait a little more. (Please re-read paragraph titled "How soon you forget".)

The UN is a worthless, toothless, paper tiger that steals the money we give them. It is corrupt and meaningless.

Trust me when I say this, the US will go after ANY nation that even thinks about attacking us or harboring people that will. I think that is fairly clear now. Eh?

I don't see any problems between Canada and the US. I just see it as neighbors who disagree from time to time, nothing more, nothing less.

robert chilton Oct 23, 2005 03:18 PM

JKA why should America care what the UN has to say? Noone else does! I personally think we could save a ton of money by pulling back our forces attached to the UN being we make up half of it any ways. Not to mention repo that big complex in NY and sell it off as prime real estate. The UN is a big political joke, just like communism. It just doesnt work! Just like the french, not a single country is worried about what they say or do. Who cares if they tell a dictator to play fair and that they will send troops to defend people of the world only to tuck their tails between their legs and cower back to UN bases with out a shot fired. The UN is about as liberal as Michael Moore!

I hate to even get in on this but what the heck. I think Canada is the greatest place in the world to live, and I hope everyone feels that way about his/her own country. If I didn't live here I'd live in the USA, it'd be a lot warmer :( . I am not a fan of our corrupt Liberal government, but please can we find a leader for the Conservatives that stands even a chance of winning [verymad] . Our gun registry is a load of crap and I don't even own a gun. As for the Iraqi war, I was pleased to see Canada take a stand at that time to not directly participate as a nation. Especially with the pressure of our two closest allies, USA and Britain, heading into battle. Our military has been reduced to where we are much better in a supportive or policing roll. I'm not saying that's a good thing. I believe Canada was fully involved in World War II almost two years before the USA. It's all politics...way too many lawyers and millionaires running things. All we can all hope for is that this thing gets settled soon and that history will show thousands of civilians and 2000 coalition troops have not died in vain.
