Diboll does not have "red light cameras", the object on top of the light that looks like a camera is actually a traffic sensor to "trip" the light. I live in Livingston just south of Diboll and we have the same thing here. People are always arguing about them being enforcement cameras. They replaced the old "loop" that was under the pavement some years back.
Most people in east Texas treat red lights as a suggestion anyway, maybe the enforcement cameras would be a good idea.

read an article this week that stated a lot of communities are rethinking the use of the cameras because they're loosing ticket revenue.

Thanks for the info. The flash I saw could have been the sun reflecting off something. I did notice while coming through Marshall that they have a few signs posted that state they have red light cameras...I did stop at those.

You have to remember that most people in east Texas are not sure what color red really is if you don’t believe that go to the Wal-Mart in Lufkin and just stand around and watch . That’s entertainment.

I agree:

Where I live (Albuquerque), the city has made $6 million on the red light/speeding cameras. Yes, it's one heck of a money maker.

I like them. If you have ever been t-boned by a red light runner you would too. I know they won't always prevent accidents caused by some knuckle-heads, but it will cut down on repeat offenders. If they didn't work, cities would not be shutting them down due to lack of revenue.
