Calling all AR-15 Lovers
 

I have been doing some research on ar-15's and was wondering who makes the best and most reliable? I don't do any hunting but I do like target shooting.

I have a special edition Bushmaster Super V-Match XM-15 that I've had for about 6-7 years. Has a 20" .92 fluted 1/9" twist barrel, 2 stage adjustable trigger, flat top receiver. It shoots 1/3 MOA or better with hand loaded 69gr Sierra Super Matchking HPBT's. Very relaible and well made.

If you scope it, spend more on the scope. You'll be happier in the long run!

I use a Leupold Mark 4, Leupold M1 tactical and an ANPVS-4 (just for coyotes) and all give great results.

I'd say any of the above mentioned would be great choices. If you really want a super accurate and well made 15, you should check out some of the ones from Iron Brigade Armory, Fulton Armory or Les Bear (sp?).

I've had a Rock River NM since 99 and it still shoots better than I do. Their customer service is outstanding. I use mine for High Power competition. Most of us Navy shooters have the Rock River and out of the box shoot better than Bushmasters NM. Nice crisp two stage trigger. My buddy's Bushmaster required a trigger job before he started competing. Their rifles are on the Navy Rifle Team van for our shooters who don't own one to compete. I've shot Bushmaster and Colt before and would not trade my Rock River. I just need 8 more points to go Distinguished and this is the rifle I won all my points with. Just can't stand Repulic of Kalifornia stupid firearm laws.

I don't know crap about all the brands but I do have a Bushmaster and I really love it.

I believe the BushMasters are made just for target shooting. I have an AR15 but Heck if I can remember who made it... It's definitely not a Colt though. Find yourself a Full Auto Sear and then it's super awesome...... I have a Hellfire trigger system for mine which works only some of the time. You have to hold the rifle just so and pull the trigger back just so and you may get full auto burst on occasion. Definitely not what it's advertised as...

Have two of them, both shoot like gangbusters. Open sights and it can shoot 98's off the shoulder at 200 yards, cleans at 300 yards (prone rapid fire) and 97-98's or better at 600 yards (prone slow fire).

The Navy team uses 'em and most of the Navy shooters I know also use them. Some have started with Colts or Bushmasters but then switched out to the RR.

The only down side to the RR is the Wilson barrel they use. At the velocities and pressures used in competition they only last 3000-4000 rounds. Re-barrel with a Krieger and you're good to go for 6000 or more.

I have a Colt Competition H-Bar and love it.

Are you a east coast shooter? I've been shooting with west coast team since 2000. Mostly pistol.

I would have to agree, But i am partial to Colt. I have an A-1 model Pre Ban tht my dad bought in 1976 for $250 brand new. Now it is worth 10 times that.

You can't argue with the resale value of the Colts. They hold their value well. I don't think there's any appreciable difference between the top 3.

This summer I'm planning to build two ARs (one standard and one mid length retracting stock) on RRA receivers. Trying to decide on the furniture color. Black or green.
