How the heck do i kill these gophers ? I never see the little varmits but there tearing up my pasture. I mean there everywhere. I work on a ranch and about six months ago . I started cleaning the fields up for cutting hay. One field is really messed up. There is a gopher bait plow thingamajig in the barn and gopher bait, But from what my boss said it dont work. His dad used it years ago and since his father passed on , So now its up to me to kill the varmits. Any suggestions? I would like to shoot them but never have seen one out above ground. Do they only come out at night or what?

Agreed on the waiting part, find a comfortable place to sit down, and wait for the gophers to pop their head out of the hole. We did this up in Canada a few summers ago when we were visiting there. They really help improve your accuracy if you're using open sites.

I used a product called "Poison Peanuts" unless I have more of them then I thought, it didn't work.
I've never seen one myself either, but have just about turned my ankle three or four times now cause of them
What about those traps with the four prongs that shoot down and stab them?

This is like what I saw over at my Mom's property. Left by the old owners, they looked like something OSHA outlawed in the 70's.
Some rickety two spring contraption, just waiting to get someones hand.

I can't help from personal experience but I seem to recall hearing of a truck-mounted vacuum rig that will come out and suck prairie dogs out of their holes into a padded canister. Don't know if you can vacuum gophers or not. May need to call Oreck and ask.

Jr's beat me to the post, but the "Rodenator" looks like the most fun.
