I work out of rail yard, you should see the pollution that comes out of there. it is unreal how much stuff just floats in the sky above that place. it always looks like it is raining above it when its not. im sure that is good for the environment

Hey DiEseLjunKy,
That's Paul Shanklin at http://paulshanklin.com/radioclassics.html
You can download that Yugo song free "and they drive with pride, in the Yugo...." http://www.paulshanklin.com/audio/Yugo.mp3
Other songs you can buy for 99 cents or you can get entire sets (Talk Radio Classics) like Rush plays a lot of.

Yeah it sucks that the government is asking it's citizen to turn in each other for BS for the sake of political correctness. This 'global warming' stuff is SUCH a crock...But the left loves it because it promises to bring in a LOT of money for them (and divide people into sensitive compassate responsible people and greedy selfish irresponsible people) and POWER. LOTS of power.
The media has jumped on the 'global warming' hype, just like they jumped on the global cooling hype as late as the 70's. One of the more sensible people that I've heard is James Inholf Senator in OK.

Yup, Texas had the number on their drivers test manual. My truck don't smoke even with the little quadzia chip. Runs clean even with the foot in it. Gets a little back puff on start up. Wife had to time in right to smoke me when I walk around the back of the truck to get in.

I smoked my wifes Beetle one time and then had to wash all the soot off and belive me it did not come off easly. I don't want to know what kind of mess that would leave inside a car. I keep my smoke levels down everywhere but the track. Just think if it was you wife or GF in the car when somone filled it with smoke and think how you would feel.

Y'all are gettin' all knotted up over nothing......

I got one of those letters from the smog ***** a few years back, they even told me the time of day and what freeway I was on. I knew exactly where it had to be, same spot where traffic eased up and I'd usually plant my foot in it. 370's smoke like a freight train with less than 10lbs of boost

I found a great place to file the letter, right under my desk.

i could be wrong, but dont diesel trucks contribute less to smog in the air than a gasser? something about the density of the exhaust smoke and yadda yadda yadda? so really, we are just making the ground dirtier, not the air.

or that could be a load of crap. but it sounds nice.

Yeah, the high compression burns things well, and there aren't any nitrates or nitrogen or something like in gasoline so the high compression doesn't form NOX's like in gassers. There are a lot of particulates (particles) though.
We got a lot of advantages over gassers, don't have to run at stoichmetric ratios (there's a minimum air fuel ratio that a gasser won't run under) so when you're idling it's burning very little. Today's diesels are pretty advanced, especially with the ULSD fuel.

Tell that to an enviromental wacko though, they won't argue the issues, they'll just start calling you names.

I've been told that when the particulates are in contact with U.V. they are neturalized, and at that point a not a hazzard.

Guess we just need to run in the daylight.

Well said. But wait! What about all the California experts, from other parts of the country, that have their closed minds made up and spell it with a K? .

In utah anyone can report you with just a few strokes on the keyboard.

Its not just a letter sent out either. You have to report to a dyno to have the smoke measured. If you dont they simply revoke your registration.
Ive been there a few times and passed every time

This is true. I know a guy that has been sent a letter twice, on the second time, he was fined.

The folks that go around blowing smoke clouds just for amusement will be the ones who screw it up for everyone. Keep up with the tomfoolery and we will all be expected to pass an emmisions test for registration. For most of the people on the road, the black smoke clouds are ANNOYING.

I love Northern California. I have met some people (most recently in the hills around Redding and Red Bluff) that make me look like a Mao Zedong hugging, anti gun, chain myself to a tree zealot. I really like them.
