I'm currently running a Yaesu FT-8900 thru a diplexer, which feeds 10 meters to a Larsen base loaded on the left front fender, and feeds 6 meters, 2 meters, and 70 centimeters to a Diamond CR627 on the right front fender. With this combination and about 45 watts, I've worked 23 states, much of Europe, Russia, South America, the Carribean, and one Australian station. Like Butch, the house?....Don't ask......

Where is the best place to feed the antenna lead into the cab of a '99 Quad Cab?
I think I'm going with twin Firesticks (red to match the Ram) and mount them on the outside edge of my toolbox.

I've just got a standard 40 channel Cobra w/ a motorola microphone, running from 2 3 1/2 ft. Diesel whips in front of the toolbox. SWR is pegged right at 1.2, without any adjusting
How are you guys turning up your CB's? Is it just input, what you hear, or output also, so you can talk back? I would like to turn mine up a bit. When the skip is decent, I can get up to 25 miles or so, maybe a bit more.

How about a Sears 23 channel,,,,,,,,,,,, custom pony-tail hair-tie mod to keep the mic from breaking up and a magnetic mount unknown brand antenna that came off a 72 Caprice ex-police car I used to own 20 some years ago,,,,,,, mounted on a homemade bed-mount bracket which allows me to still use my soft tonneau.
Can you tell I ain't much into CBs? About the only time I use it is when I'm convoying with some one. I can remember when my Dad first got into CBs back in the mid 60's. He had two Hellicrafters (sp?) tube type that could be used in the house or in a vehicle. I think it had 6 channels (ABCDEF) that he had to buy the crystals for the channels he wanted. If I'm not mistaken,,,,,, I think he still has the pair of them out in the garage. Them things were huge too!
But back then, you had to get a FCC license and assigned call letters,, I still remember his was KQK-3159,,,
and folks talked on them like they had some manners. Now days,,, it's not hardly fit to turn on if you have kids in the car.
Hence the reason for me still using the antique.
