Bob, I agree with ya. Diving into Lake Michigan doesn't sound too appealing especially when you live on the southern/polluted end of it.

Evening DTR. Did some welding today, couple brackets and a contraption. Stop by dads and tinkered on the tractor and did a few odds and ends there. Gonna do a little more welding tomorrow and then I gotta start tearing dads honda apart. Said a wheel bearing sounds bad and it need brakes.

Wife and I hit up Costco tonight to do some shopping for a tailgate party we're going to on saturday. Purchased the beer for the party, 3-24 packs of Miller lite, 2-24 packs of Bud Light, and one 30 pack of Pabst. Got a stack of the frozen uncooked burgers, 4 packs of dogs, and 2 BIG bag of chips. Think we got most of the food and beverages covered. The wife is gonna pick up buns and pop on her way home from work tomorrow, guess the store near her work has it very cheap this week.

How's everyone tonight?

We have 50 schools closed here in south west Michigan due to what they originally thought was the H1N1 virus... now they're not sure.

Morning all.

Today is Thursday, October 22nd.

On this day in 1746 - The College of New Jersey was officially chartered. It later became known as Princeton University.

1836 - Sam Houston was inaugurated as the first constitutionally elected president of the Republic of Texas.

1844 - This day is recognized as "The Great Disappointment" among those who practiced Millerism. The world was expected to come to an end according to the followers of William Miller.

1879 - Thomas Edison conducted his first successful experiment with a high-resistance carbon filament.

1883 - The New York Horse show opened. The first national horse show was formed by the newly organized National Horse Show Association of America.

1907 - The Panic of 1907 began when depositors began withdrawing money from many New York banks.

1962 - U.S. President Kennedy went on radio and television to inform the United States about his order to send U.S. forces to blockade Cuba. The blockade was in response to the discovery of Soviet missile bases on the island.

WAHHHHH - - - I'M JEALOUS. Wish we had some of them thar thingies down here. Oh well, come to think about it, we have enough critters down here all ready, many of them only have two legs.

Morning gang, been out rounding up the pruning residue for the trash pickup this morning - - tough seeing it in the dark. Wow, it is dark at 5:30 - - when did that happen?

I see the maid did not put on the coffee this morning but gave us a wonderful history lesson, sooooo, let him off the hook. Coffee on, ph00 is done, hot water with an old sock in it for the Dog and fresh baked nanner bread on the counter. Hurry before the hairy one wakes up. Off to the races. See ya,

Bob

Down here they're calling any "Type A" influenza H1N1 regardless of whether it is confirmed by the CDC.

Morning Scott.

Morning fellow DTRotarions>
Watching leaves fall > it reminds me how much i like my privacy !
Reflecting back > when we had a 120 acre farm in the fall you could see two neighbors to the west & two to the east >
Situation is relatively the same now after leaves fall>
Even though i spent a great deal of my life entertaining > never did like crowds > ( fortunately when entertaining it allows you to be some what separated from the crowd!) HA! HA! when i was finished for the night always made a mad dash home where i had privacy >
I guess thats about the only good thing about this recession > seams to be a mass Exodus of the state > I don`t have the figures in front of me but must be .10%or .20% less people in the state than 5 yrs ago
If it lasts long enough it might get down to where its pretty reasonable in this state !

Good Morning DTR.... getting another late start to the day
Homemade biscuits w bacon and eggs for brekkie, the BOSS must have something up her sleeve...

Went to a low-light shooting/tactical entry and search class last night.. was a blast! learned some new tricks, picked up a nice Pelican 130 lum rechargable light for dirt cheap, and during my turn to be the bad guy, scored the only "kills"... against the local SRT Team too!! They werent happy to say the least... they are all rather... "large" gentleman, and it didnt occur to them that my skinny tush can fit in a tiny little space...

guess I need to get out and get started, got a fresh mare in for training, the folks have spoiled by treating it like a pet.. now hs NO respect for people, likes to walk over the top of ya.. got to work on that today*evil grin*

Yall have fun and B Safe!

There is so much that they DON'T know about H1N1 that it is scarier than the disease itself! NOW they're saying if you're over 50, you're probably immune from it because there was some flu that went around way back in the old days, (you probably remember it T-Rad!), that will have made you have a high resistance to it. Just a week ago they were saying that people OVER 50 would be hardest hit besides the kids.
