Evening, in for an afternoon stint. Got tomorrow off so I get to miss the first half of the storm blowing in. New Holland dealer had a U-joint that may just fit the shaft on the 3 pt snowblower. Get to install that while the weather is coming down tomorrow.

Josh, good to see ya. Looks like you still work at the dealership. Did some major driveline work on the jeep a little while back. Gonna be needing a a bunch of peripherals for it as soon as I get the property taxes caught up.

You'll be going home right in the middle of it. Yay!

I don't think those U-joints are anything special. If they become a major pain, it might behoove you to get a new PTO shaft from TSC. If they have one. Which they probably won't because "The stuff you need out here... is never available".

Yeah, for $300. 3 TSC's had half a dozen joints to chose from, and 3 dozen empty spaces. This one should work, if not, I'll lop off the joint and adaptor and weld on a later one for about $125 altogether. The joint didn't really break. The lock pin came out of the adaptor, allowing the shaft to come off and flail. Two caps came off and were lost in the snow. When I get this together, I'll weld on a little piece of plate over the caps to reinforce the ears and keep the caps in place as a back-up for the c-clips. They do that a lot on axle shaft u-joints for off roading. Very easy way to adda a lot of strength to them.

Heidi make it back before the weather hits?

I forgot to ask TSC if they take Banked Leave Time or Comp... since we don't get the full check thanks to the kanook.

two additional style points for Scotty, that's funny!

Does the 8N use the little nipple that fits over the PTO shaft to make it fit the up to date stuff or is it totally different from that?

So the surgery got bumped up? Better get moving.

I'm one step closer to having a garden this summer. I found a class 1 PTO adapter for the skidsteer today. Now all I need is a cheap tiller.

Rick, I have an over-run adaptor on the shaft to convert it. The blower is the v-shaped single stage made by ARPS 40 years a go and uses heavy, flail blades. Gotta have some protection on the shaft. It's really too big for the N as it is. I'm able to whittle away at the high banks with it though.

I'm surprised that we are getting more than you. They weather now says 18 inches in Lake and Porter Counties and the counties to the east of Porter (where I live) could have even more due to lake effect. My supervisor already told everyone if you can't make it in safely then stay home on wednesday and that it's not worth getting in a wreck or hurt. We'll see how wednesday morning plays out, I'm going to make a good attempt to get to work but you never know with I-80/94.I hope it's not as bad as the weatherman is making it sound.

Evening DTR. Not a bad day today, back is in some pain today. Got a little OT this afternoon. The wife was surprised I took the OT, I normally don't work it. I tell her and the OT hogs I work with that Overtime ruins a mans soul and character and i hate it with a passion!! It really makes the guys i work with that love OT mad when I say that! I love messing with them they get so bent out of shape and think I am serious.

Went over to mom and dads after work today, helped mom with a few things. She bought alot of extra stuff at Costco today so she gave me some food stuff to take home with me for the wife and I.

OK, so the shaft is standard size and spline for modern tractors, correct? If that's so, what length shaft are you looking for? I saw the shafts on TSC were pretty expensive. There's a place I got to occasionally in Cullman that has a tool store, flea market and a new and used implement dealer. He sells some brand name stuff and some other lower grade stuff but has a ton of old implements sitting. There might be a bargain in one of his barns.

If it were summer and I had time to wait for the mailman, I'd take you up on that Rick. I think this new U-joint will fit though. But if not, I have a welder and band saw, etc., and will just cut the antique joint off and weld on a modern one for 1/3 the price of the whole thing. The blower end doesn't slip on, it's a keyed shaft. I have about a half mile of single lane I have to maintain and another 1/2 mile I have to clean up after what the neighbors try to do. I'm the last one on a dead end. Can't afford to have it down long this time of year. Would've beeen done already if I could've gotten out of work while New Holland was open. I only check TSC because they're open late. I'm thinking of finally picking up a new camera this week, might be able to post up some current picks of the toys.
