You should notify Canadian meat producers how WalMart is labeling their meat . There is no way to distinguish Mexican meet from Canadian and that is going to result in less Canadian meat being sold . Pressure should be put on WalMart to stop putting all 3 countries on the label . I travel to Canada frequently . I'll be going there twice next week . The only Canadians I have a problem with are the ones that pushed the Speed Limiter Bill through .

Dad use to buy a side from a local butcher before and have it cut up into steaks roasts and ground beef. All the beef was from local farmers and it was good!

Thats a very true statement FO and thats why alot of america shops at walmart. Not care for cost or quality, just cheap.

I never buy meat from walmart. I try not to buy anything from walmart if I don't have to. I always go to the local grocery store to get meat or to the local butcher shop.

It was the Americans that wanted Free Trade more then anyone, they figured they could get things cheaper and sell their goods for higher.

They wanted to control the market more so, what happend is they bought the market, then sent it to where it can be had for cheaper, (Mexico). Needless to say they shut in one of their Best partners (Canada) just so they could protect their fragile industrys, Which really were not producing that good of quailty anyways,
when will it stop is what Americans should be asking themselves, when can America open a fair trade with their partners. The US has such control over the ruling partys that we are at the Mercy of the US law makers.
It has been proven that Free Trade only works towards the US market in a benifitting it, then what ever else comes down comes to us and Mexico.

All I ever hear from Americans is how they can protect their own jobs, but at what expense to your neighbors. Sorry protecting US jobs means putting out a better product for less cost, (with in reason) so far in the industrys the US has failed to do so, there solution has been to just buy the foreign industry and force them to deal strictly with them.

For what it is worth good luck,
remember Alberta beef is the best.

I was in Hannover, Germany for a couple weeks summer of 07, I was walking around the area of the hotel one saturday and found a walmart that was going out of business. I talked to the bartender at the hotel about it and she said they were open for about a year, but everything they had was junk and no one would shop there. I just laughed and told her that was normal for wal-mart.
I found a new appreciation for Germans that day.

Shoot deer and butcher them yourself, then you don't need any of the beef.

They all use steroids and hormones anyway except for the "natural" stuff, then you pay double for it.

I haven't bought meat from a store in 12 years, I find most of it looks pretty disgusting, an the smell compared to farm raised or wild game is atrocious. Don't even ask what I think of the meat when we go out to eat. Eggs is another thing....eating out for breakfast and them bringing these flat tasteless rubber bird droppings to me makes me gag. This Fall we (couple friends and I) butchered another two hogs an two beef cattle. That's the most we ever did of beef, but we didn't get our moose or Boo. We have a new couple up the road fresh from sunny LA, we had them over for solstice dinner. They both loved the dinner but the wife had never eaten anything not processed, an this was her first all farm raised dinner, everything on the table was Alaskan Grown, she really pigged out. Sent them home with Some game meat small ham chunk and a dozen eggs, got a phone call the next day from her, guess they tried the ham an eggs for breakfast, she was saying how much they liked our dinner, but she says where can I get these eggs, she was just in awe what a fresh egg taste like. They are now totally converted.
Oh and Ice cream....we have a local dairy, Northern Lights Dairy, they make the best vanilla there is, especially in the winter. Cold makes the cows produce more fat/cream, so its really rich, in fact in the winter you can practically whip their whole milk

I studied alot of german history in high school and college due to taking 4 yrs of german. To my understanding from read new articles is that germans tend not to shop at place like walmart or things of that nature and that alot of europe is like that.

Deer is a good way to go. Natural beef or sometime I've seen it labeled organic beef is alot of money. I have had it a few times and it was better tasting than some of the other crap stores sell. I'm still just going to buy local from the butcher as much as I can or shoot a deer. I just feel better by helping out the local guy.

I went to Wal Mart to buy county hams for some buddys for Christmas on Sunday before. I ask if if the hams could be returned by the persons that received them, to be sliced, they told me they wuold not slice any hams, then or later.
When to Kroger's, they said yes that hams could be sliced now or later. Kroger was 25 cents per pound less. I will not be buying anymore food at Walk Mart, ....period.
