Angry Boss out of Line???? Rant

WoW have i got as good one for you guys. Today I arived at work and got handed a Write-up for being late. I admitted to the fact that I had been late a few times but at least I had called in and told them that I was going to be late. I figured that even though I was late I had at least called in and told them. Also I figured that sense I am always staying late or coming in eairly when they ask me even on my days off that these late's would be over looked.

WELL like I said today I was handed a write-up for tardiness no big deal it was just a 1st write up and a basic warning sactions next time. OR SO I THOUGHT........As I read down the paper I see that my boss wants me to write a FREAKING REPORT on the importance of being on time!!!!! I told her NO im not writing a report im an adult not a kid and your my boss not my mother. She told me that Its the sactions and i am to write the paper and sign the write up. I said fine I'll sign the paper stating
I recieved the write-up but you not getting the report because I am not a Criminal in the facility and i'm not in treatment. At that point the supervisor came down and told me to sign out for the day and take the day to think about my choice.

I think that it is outragious that they expect me to write a report about being on time. I can't require them to write a report on why they can keep me after or call me in eairly at least 1-2 times a week.

am I out of line or am i right to stand my ground for this??????

Ps. I have been through 4 yrs of college and am on my way to Law school in may so the report is really no big deal to physically write but its really insulting to expect me to write one.

What do you do, and what type of firm do you work for? Define a few times. How often were you late in what kind of time frame?

Childish at best ....

If she were persistant about it make a report that is as passivly aggresive as you can make it with a little tounge in cheek for spite.

Good luck.

I feel your pain. Its your job, do you want it or not? If it isn't that important, then screw em'! But if you need the job by all means do what you're asked and keep your chin up. Just learn it as a lesson. Just give them a report with one sentence:

Report: Why coming to work on time is important!

If I don't come in on time I have to write a freakin report!!!!

Freak-

Write the report. I'm sure it's part of the progressive disipline program. If you haven't been disiplined for tardiness before, speak to your union about the employer not following disipline procedures.

Working in Law Enforcement WILL put you at a higher standard of conduct. Prisoners are never held to as stiff of sanctions for the same offences. We have to be better than them.

yeah I agree about us being held to a higher standard but this is the same sanctions given to a criminal in treatment heck a sit down and explain would have been better but to write a paper come on

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you'd get to work on time stuff like this wouldn't happen. Calling in and telling them you're going to be late still doesn't change the fact that you're late.

That being said, I think it's pretty silly that they'd ask you to write a report about being late. On the other hand, I'm guessing that after you write the report your continued tardiness will cease because you obviously don't like writing reports. So, in the end they get a worker who is punctual and you get to keep your job.

Yep. That's why I asked if Cummins Freak was a correctional officer when he said he worked in a prison.
