Boat parts
Got a bad fuel tank sending unit on the boat. It's made by Medallion Instruments and I can't seem to find any info on them. The sending unit is a 240 ohm unit. 5 hole mounting.
Any info would be appreciated.

SR,
Don't waste your time trying to fix that thing, here in West Virginia we would just put a cork on a wire and drill a small hole in the top of the tank. (Make sure the jug you steal the cork from is empty)
After emptying that jug cousin Cleotus gave you, (for the cork) place the cork on the bottom of the wire and feed the end of the wire UP through the top of the tank. (providing the emptying of the jug has not caused you to forget which way is up)
No need for a fancy schmancy fuel gauges, as you can now look at the wire to see how low the cork is riding (providing emptying of the jug has not caused too much blurring of your vision)
Besides those leaking fumes from that hole in the top of the tank, just add to the over all ambiance of the boating experience
If I can be of any further assistance.....just give me a ring and break out another one of cousin Cleotus's jugs

Let me see.....
The link Shovelhead posted says its under construction,
Fiftygrit forgets that the mason jar is for the singlings or even for the second run
whereas the jug is for passing around the proofed product (you need something with a handle or you fall down).
Lary can tell you if I have it backwards but after the second jug he probably no longer cares.
GabriallBaker actually posted a useful link but everything costs more than 5 dollars.
So I wonder why shortround doesn't ask for advice more often?

All you need is the length of the sending unit, 5 hole is standard mounting
pattern, any company's will fit. Match the ohms and if it is 2 or 3 wire.
I like the cork & wire idea since marine sending units are
unreliable and not very accurate
After trying 2 new electric sending units I went to one of these:

But it's easy to see on my boat.

LoL! Nobody ever accused me of being observant.
Ummm, actually I knew it was an old one I was just checking to see if anybody else would notice.
