Some of you know I tried to buy a turbo on E-Bay a while back. It's a long story, and yes I was dumb enough to send a cashiers check because the guy wouldn't accept paypal. It's been almost a month and the guy won't even return messages anymore. I filed a complaint w/ E-bay but he hasn't even responded to that. Even if their buyer protection service helps, it will be a lot less than I paid. So, I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what channels you took to get it resolved...

 

contact the states/district atty in his area...You have his addy right? File criminal (not civil) charges....People do that all the time from ebay related transactions...And it works...At the very least he may refund your money to avoid proceedings

 

I have the address he had me send the check to and also the one that the yellow pages shows for him...

Hopefully Ebay will help you out. If you had paid with Paypal or a credit card then you would have some recourse through them. However, since you paid with a cashier's check I'm not really sure what you can do. Unfortunately, Ebay can't really do anything to the guy except cancel his account, which doesn't really do anything because he can always start another one.

Have you requested his contact information from Ebay? They will give it to you. I've found that phone calls are more effective than e-mails.

As a last resort I would take him to court over it.

Now that sounds like the best idea so far. Hearing 100+/- diesels pull up, that right there would probably scare the pampers off of him.

If you sent him the check in the mail, as he instructed you to, can't this be considered mail fraud?

I don't think that would fall under the same category as mail fraud. Apparently this guy has a 550hp 05 Cummins but I haven't been able to find him on any of these boards.. It just sucks to screw a fellow CTD brother...

I like the idea of all of us showing up at his house in Illinois though. Oops did I just let the first clue out????

Ok I've got 7 days I have to take off of work before I loose them this year. Here is the plan. I'll come pick you up with the "cargo" in the back of the truck. We show up to his house and pick up your money. I spend the next 5 days left trying to get someone to bail me out of jail in IL

 

I'd like to resolve things as lawfully as possible. But............

 

Ill get the bail money!!!!! . I do business all the time on ebay dont like anyone scammin my DTR brothers.
