Aux Tank/Toolbox combo to pump water?

Was kicking around the idea of getting one of those aux tank/toolbox combos to mount on the front of my trailer. I don't want to put fuel in the tank though, I want to put water in it to run a pressure washer. I need a +12V pump to supply the water to the washer, but that would be about it. Any thoughts on this?

Aluminum or steel ???

I'd worry a little about the rust problem in a steel tank especially the little flakes that tear up pumps. Seems like a compact idea though ... maybe you could coat the tank inside ?? Aluminum would be a good way to go (if they make them in aluminum).

I think you will find that the tank capacity will be too small for your needs.
The power washer will use more water than you have in the tank.

I do have a suggestion I have one or two approximately 200-gallon tanks they are old fuel tanks that have not been used for many years and do not contain any residual. I will

Trade you for a toolbox fuel tank compo. For this you can have all 6 tanks running from 150 gallons too 600 gallons. I will even bring them to you (in McKinney)
But I do want you to come and look at them first .

Why not go with a plastic storage tank ?. You could get what ever size since you want to put it on your trailer. 1 - 2 m3 tank should be more than enough

see if you can get a tote, I think the hold 275 gtallons, are the size of a pallet, you can put a drain on it to make it easy to move empty. they are made of poly and shouldn't be too hard to find, might even be able to score one free.

Water

Anything over 200 gallons on the front of the trailer, your looking at a seriously high tounge weight. Depends how long he's going to use the washer. If he just wants to hose off a muddy quad when done riding go for it. I opted to do similar for my trailer. I have a 55 gallon polly drum, and I mounted a 12 volt pump (Surplow, or something) Goes up tot 60 PSI, uses 3 gallons a minute, We use it at camp for a shower, this and that, works great and does take a while to use up. I mean 3 gal an minute, that's 18 minutes of washing time at high pressure. Just my idea, plus you can move it around.

When I was a youngster on the farm, the old man used to have a big plastic tank that was fitted to the back of the truck. Had spots for the wheel wells and everything. We had to haul drinking water to our sistern. I imagine the thing probably held close to 450 - 500 gals. Pretty heavy when full.

The best part was that you could pull it out when not needed. The feed stores should have something like it.
