Auto clear coats

What are some of the guys who paint. What product names of clear coats do you like?

I painted with Valspar and Shikkens...Some how I did not like these clears...Was thinking of trying RM or Dupont....or should I try some other brand.?

I like Dupont.

kind of asking wich beer is the best, everyone has there own opinion,

Most clear coats and brands now days are all good. It's the prep work prior to and during painting/clear coating that makes the difference. AND especially a clean "dust free as possible" work area. Remember several light coats is better than spraying one heavy coat.

Valspar is my favorite, I have used also used DuPont with great results. Like high bid said, good prep is vital and don't be afraid to use several coats. Take your time and no matter what you use it should turn out good.

P.S.: Don't mean to be copying your exact words high bid, but that is pretty much the best advice there is when painting.

X2 any high end product will do fine.

No prob...I've seen in the past and understand people can get in a hurry and that's the worst thing you can do when painting....as you can't make it dry any faster than it's designed to.

I use PPG or Dupont, heck I can remember using Napa years ago, do they still sell paint?

Diesel Dave2 Mar 27, 2009 10:12 AM

Napa doens't sell their own name paints anymore, but sell dupont...But now I'm running into a problem, which unless your a company that paints vehicles for a living, they will not sell to the public anymore...Some sort of goverment regulation. They are trying to wipe out the hobby painter that repairs and paint their own vehicles....

I'm looking into trying the Dupont line.......If I find a company that will sell it to me..

Don't feel bad Dave, the USA is going the same way, we will not be able to purchase without a License in 2011.

???????
I just bought some from my local Dupont dealer 2 weeks ago with out a problem......

Diesel Dave2 Mar 28, 2009 07:46 AM

Some companies here, are already inforcing the new goverment law...One being NAPA...I talked to others and they are aware that they will have to stop selling to the public in the next year and a half.....Now what is the reason???Because some idiot didn't follow safety instructions and burned his nerves out...[verymad].

Nope, VOC releases.

Effin tree huggers anyways.

I know this, I am going to be stocking up, and luckily I have several friends in the business.
