Anyone own their own shop?

A friend and I are getting the wonderful privelage to open our own shop. We are mostly going to start doing suspension work and mild mods on trucks (exhuast, programmers ,etc). We have a backer so we can purchase whatever we need. We have all the tools we need. I am just looking for any suggestions the experienced shop owners have.

Any help would be appreciated,

Josh

I don't own a shop but I am a buisness owner. My advice would be to make sure you rember that it is a buisness and puts food on your table first. Treat your buddies the same as your regular customers, good guy deals will put you under mighty quick. Other then that start off with a good accounting program and keep it up to date cash flow is very important. Having your own buisness can be a pain but it has its good points too.
Good luck

I've owned my own shop and business since '98

Always do your best.
Make every customer feel like they got a great deal.
Say what you'll do, and do what you say.
Remember to account for ALL of your hard and soft costs in your pricing, if you wish to be in business for the long term.
CASH FLOW - is King... make sure it comes IN faster than it goes OUT
Streamline your supply chain & service procedures to maximize profit
No matter how much fun it is, don't forget it's a business!
Always be honest and friendly.
Do not work for free, unless you're fixing your own mistake.

Good Luck
