Anyone here held a public office?

I was just curious if anyone here has ever held public office? Politics really interest me, especially on a local level. I am thinking about running for state representitive in a few years and was wondering if anyone had any views on holding this type of office? ??? :

Does "Village Idiot" count?

I have great respect for those who choose to serve as representitives of the common man.
Especially when they come from the Grass Roots level.

No doubt you would make a great State Rep.

HMMMMMM a "car salesman" as a politician.......
Maybe our elected officials should come with a warranty.

Re:Anyone here held a public office?

Well, I'm not a politician myself, but my boss is an elected Clerk of Court here in VA - and he's running for State Senate later this year. Lots of work involved - fundraising, putting out signs, gladhanding people. He seems to be having a pretty good time at it, but he's pretty easygoing too. I think if you've got an idea on how to make things better in your state, go for it. I think it's too much work getting elected to do it just for fun - unless all that election work is your idea of fun! :P

Re:Anyone here held a public office?

Up here in Canada, I have held the political office of City Councillor for a number of years. It is my belief that one can bring about true change at the local level by holding that office.
