Anyone have a "Sleep Number" bed?

(how's this for a less inflaming topic?)

We just got one of these things a little over a week ago. They do what the Bionic Woman says! Extremely comfortable... I wake up and my back doesn't feel like I need to stretch it for a half hour.

I love it when a product does what it's supposed to!

I love my queen size pillow top. Then again, at 6' tall and 140lbs, I don't make much of an impression.

We got the 5000 series, queen size. I think I'd rather have gone with the expanded queen (you know, for when we get old and fat!), but wife didn't want to spend the extra $200 right now. The 7000 series had too much stuff on top for our tastes.

PM me if you want any specifics.

They're - to me, anyway - a bit expensive. Ours was $1599, after a $200 discount. And 6 months, same as cash. I figured it was worth it since they have a 20 year warranty. My mom has had one for 7 years and it's as good as the day she got it.

I got a bed about 5 years ago for about 8 or 9 hundred bucks - and it was supposed to be a really good one - and it was already killing my back. I even called the company for warranty replacement. They came out, did measurements and proclaimed it within the limits of warranty and that was that.

So, if this one stays good for even 10 years, I figure we're ahead on the cost and if it goes for 20 or more.... And even still, the way my back's been feeling already, it's worth the $$ to me, at least.

Joel and others:

We bought a Select Comfort bed last month. It is a great bed backed by a company that leaves a little to be desired.

The coverlet (the part the covers the "foundation" to make it look like a regular box spring) was the wrong size for the bed we ordered. THREE TIMES they have sent WRONG-SIZED replacements. I even told them what they did wrong, and they repeated the same mistake-- TWICE!

Now that I mentioned that, all else is WONDERFUL. We have the 7000 series, which is second from the top-of-the-line. It's great. I've settled on a 45 for a sleep number. It took me about a month to really find the firmness that worked best for me.

The bed doesn't seem to be like much, because the foundation is snap together plastic. The mattress itself is basically air chambers surrounded by foam-- stiff foam for the walls and chamber divider, soft foam on top.

Ours was WAY TOO MUCH MONEY-- over $2400. After a month of sleeping on it, I'd never return it for something else. I even gave up $600+ from my BOMB fund to afford this mattress (no debt for us if we can help it), and I don't regret it. I was skeptical of spending the money (as was my wife, who HATES to spend money, period). I figured that the 30 day trial would cost us $118 in shipping to send it back, so it's not really a "free trial". But it's better than not being able to get back the puchasr price. $100 isn't so bug compared to $2K+

We had a conventional mattress previously that was ruined after only two years! (thank you, USAF contract movers). This SC bed is just a smarter design all the way around.

I WOULD recommend the 7000 series if you can swing it. It's REALLY worth the premium, imho.

The main reason we bought one wasn't Lindsay Wagner There were two things that sold me: 1) My Dad and stepmom have had one for 9 years and hate to travel because it means sleeping in some other bed 2) After only 30 min laying on the bed in the store, I felt like I had just been given a chiropractic treatment.

It's weird that the bed is so comfortable that I sometimes forget to soften it by setting it to my number. Even on 100 (which is rock-hard), it's still very comfortable because of the thickness of the pillow top.

I like it a lot. It a luxury, for sure, and I'm very blessed to be able to have one. It's been a real treat.

Justin

When you weigh 250 and the wife weighs 120, you will know what we are talking about.

There isn't any regular mattress that will be comfortable for both of you.

Hey Guys! The wife says she has had it with the old mattress. Give me some help getting a deal out of these guys? Do they work off invoice?

I can get free shipping ($180), a free comforter ($259 value, yea right), and free set up for $2,899 on sale for everything. That includes the foundation. Is this a deal?

MAN! I can get a Goerend Bros tranny for that! INSTALLED!

Guys, Guys, Guys...can you add gauges? Can you add a "spray in" bed liner?

I'm not sure I can stand at the pumps next to some guy with a new CTD, hand him my DTR card and say: Oh yeah by the way if you need a new mattress we discuss that too.
