Anyone ever break there foot?
Well last night I found out that beer and mini bikes dont go good together. We set up a flat track and 4 of us were racing and somehow I crashed and I dont know how but think I broke my foot. I was able to walk on it for the rest of the night but today is a no go. It hurts like hell to walk on it. Its swollen on the top outside by the small toe and by the big toe where it meets the main part of my foot. The swelling has seemed to gone down but I dont know if its sprained or broke. I would go to the er but I dont have insurance and really dont have the cash to pay. If its still bad in the am I will go to my regular doc but does this sound broke. Thanks for the help.

Sounds sprained to me. Keep it elevated and keep plenty ice on it. Stop trying to walk on it for a week or so, and if you have a good ankle and foot wrap do so to help with the excess fluid in the foot. I've sprained my foot many times, not hard to do when riding on dirtbikes, atvs, etc.
Never broke my foot, but i have broke my clavicle rolling a 4 wheeler. Broke clean off. Didn't hurt til they showed me the xray, then I got sore...had 2 surgeries to repair it.

Broke mine twice and sprained it several times skateboarding. I could not apply weight when it was broke, I could still get around with a sprain.
I second the ice and elevation advice, and I'd suggest wrapping it with an ace bandage as well. Try to keep off it as much as possible, it will not heal if you keep stressing it.

I am starting to think its just a sprain. I can still move the ankle and toes just cant put much weight on it. I guess I will just keep the ice and ace on and stay on the old crutches and see what happens

You may have a stress fracture in one of the bones of your foot. there isn't much that can be done other than just keeping weight off of your foot.

Just because you can move it doesn't mean it is not broken. I can understand not wanting to waste money. Only way to be sure is X-ray. See how it goes and maybe go to your family Dr. - May be that all you need is a boot

I tore a tendon when I wrecked the motorcycle a couple years ago.
Technically a break, since bone separated from bone, but not really a break.
Swollen, black, blue, couldn't walk on it.
Still messed up as the ER docs didn't see the tear or the bone chip.
Bone doc saw it about 2 months later when I went in because it was still hurting like heck.
It would have been more trouble than it was worth to fix it, so I left it.
Still hurts if I walk on it just right, or wrong.

Never broke my foot but i had a partial tear with a ligament in my foot. Hurt like heck for a few weeks. Broke a few ribs in a snowmobile accident and I've broken my nose a few times.

G/F is still healing from fractured ankle. We thought it was a sprain at first also. Did it on a Saturday and went to the Dr. the following Monday because the swelling hadn't gone down any. She ended up in a "boot" to keep the ankle immobile. If the fracture broke she would have needed surgery with screws and plates.
So far it is healing properly and she is able to take the "boot" off for short periods. It has been 5 weeks since the "accident".
Go get x-rays now and prevent possible problems later, small price to pay to know with out a doubt if it is only a sprain or really broken.
