Also would like input, as I bought a 7 RUM Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation edition Remington 700 in stainless for the wife (I shoot a .338). I have bedded it in a new and shorter stock, added a KDF type recoil suppresser, a trigger job, and a light bolt shroud and firing pin. I guess I just have to mod everything! I am thinking of using the Barns X for Elk and if we ever draw a tag, Moose.

This site has some "pet loads" posted by users:

Man,
i thought that the regular 7mm remington magnum has enough recoil, wouldnt even wanna try the ultra mag.. Funny as it seems tho, that 7mm kicks more than a 300 winnie mag to me... I have fired the 7mm STW.. my shoulder hates that rifle.... Whats the deal with the STW and the RUM? i dont see much of a difference to begin with.... anyone? Tx |
STW or RUM not a big difference. I was actually looking for a regular 7 mag to go with her Styer 7-08 but found a GREAT deal on this stainless steel RMEF edition 7 RUM so what to heck. Unfired in a pawn shop for $385 out the door!

That is a great deal! Give the barnesX bullet a try. I love it in my 7rem mag.
