Any architech types out there ??

Good morning y'all,

Hey ... I recently received an architectural design program/CD Softdesk 8 AEC Solutions - Building design and engineering) but it requires autoCAD R14 to operate .... where can I find this program ? Is this something that can be downloaded for free somewhere or am I going to have to buy and install something ??

I kinda think this is going to be fun to play with and use for some future mods to the house and barn. Just need to get in there and learn.

Cheers,
PISTOL

I just typed it into Yahoo search & came up w/ a couple sources. I think it was like either $1K or $3K. There were a couple different ones. I don't know what I was looking for.

I dont think your going to find the AutoCAD anywhere for for free. Although AutoCAD R14 is a old version of AutoCAD, releasing I believe in the mid to late 90s. Will that software work with later versions? or just release 14? Either way whatever you find your probably gonna pay in the price range that carcrz said.

versions since R14 are....
AutoCAD 2000
AutoCAD 2002
AutoCAD 2004
AutoCAD 2005
AutoCAD 2006
AutoCAD 2007

I have used all of these versions which are very similar to each other, but currently I use 2007 on a daily basis. AutoCAD definetly takes some learning to master the software. If you decide to purchase something and need assistance learning the software PM me.

I had a trial issue of R14 but I think it's long gone by now. I may still have the book. I took R14 at OTC in Springfield back when it first came out.

I'm not sure you could even buy R14 any more? Why would Autodesk still provide support for a product that has long since become ancient? I remember learning R11 or R12 when I was in highschool some 10 years ago. I'd imagine that you can find a bunk copy of R14 floating around on someones torrent site though.

I do know one thing... Engineers>>>>>>>>>architects....

You have to be kidding .... those programs cost that much ??? Holy cow ... I had no idea. Talk about living in a bubble. Heck, the program that I have only cost $8.00 !!!!

No ... I don't believe that I want to spend that kind of duckets for something to play around with at home.

I picked up a Home Designer 3d program a couple years ago but it is not real user friendly and so I haven't used it much. I thought this one looked much better. EEEEEEEKKKK !!!

Thanks fellas,
