5 lug wheels to 8 lug wheels

How do I do a conversion from a 5 lug 15" wheel to a 8 lug 16" wheel? Anything special other than a hub change?

Thanks

Jon

What on? A trailer? A truck? Your suburban?

If you're trying to go to 16" on your suburban, look at some late model or aftermarket wheels that will let you stay 5 lug but run 16" tires

Easy. Sell the 1500 and get a 2500. Other than that, you need to change axles and spindles, and to do that, you need to change frames, and when you do that, you 1500 body won't fit. So, it's back to tradin in.

Look for a late 70's, 3/4 ton Ford axles to swap so you can keep the front diff on the drivers side. That IFS probably won't last under a cummins anyway. I certainly wouldn't trust the 10 bolt rear.

You're not far away, you can get info and maybe some parts leads on greatlakes4x4.com

FYI, It is staying 2wd and I cannot find another Burb of this era for as cheap as I got this one in the great of shape. Just needs a paint job. So I need 16" wheels 8 lug to match the D70 going in the rear....

Thanks for the replies.

Jon, doesn't matter, grab the stuff off of any 73-87 GMC or Chebby 3/4 ton 2WD truck or 'Burban. Get control arms out, they bolt right to the 1/2 ton frame.

If you can't find the stuff cheap up there, let me know, I know I can buy it DIRT, and I mean DIRT cheap down here.

Oh yea, make sure you use the wheels off your Dodge, the Chebby has slightly smaller centers, so for a spare, you need to use a Dodge or Furd rim to make sure it fits all 4 slots.
