***FREE BEER & TOILET PAPER BREAKROOM - 4/14 to 4/20***

Morning all.

Figured I'd try an IB advertising strategy to try and get people in here. Who cares if it's true or relevant as long as it brings in the numbers, right?

Neither. He simply does not exist any longer.

He had an identity crisis and will no longer bless us with his presence.

Sunday, April 14th.

1775 - The first abolitionist society in U.S. was organized in Philadelphia with Ben Franklin as president.

1865 - U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in Ford's Theater by John Wilkes Booth. He actually died early the next morning.

1902 - James Cash (J.C.) Penney opened his first retail store in Kemmerer, WY. It was called the Golden Rule Store.

1912 - The Atlantic passenger liner Titanic, on its maiden voyage hit an iceberg and began to sink. 1,517 people lost their lives and more than 700 survived.

1918 - The U.S. First Aero Squadron engaged in America's first aerial dogfight with enemy aircraft over Toul, France.

1981 - America's first space shuttle, Columbia, returned to Earth after a three-day test flight. The shuttle orbited the Earth 36 times during the mission.

1984 - The Texas Board of Education began requiring that the state's public school textbooks describe the evolution of human beings as "theory rather than fact".

1985 - The Russian paper "Pravda" called U.S. President Reagan's planned visit to Bitburg to visit the Nazi cemetery an "act of blasphemy".

1986 - U.S. President Reagan announced the U.S. air raid on military and terrorist related targets in Libya.

1988 - Representatives from the U.S.S.R., Pakistan, Afghanistan and the U.S. signed an agreement that called for the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan starting on May 15. The last Soviet troop left Afghanistan on February 15, 1989.

1994 - Two American F-15 warplanes inadvertently shot down two U.S. helicopters over northern Iraq. 26 people were killed including 15 Americans.

2002 - U.S. President George W. Bush sent a letter of congratulations to JCPenny's associates for being in business for 100 years. James Cash (J.C.) Penney had opened his first retail store on April 14, 1902.

Today's thought:
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

C0ffee & ph00 are ready. Today's ph00 phlavor is Black Almond Bubblegum. Enjoy.

Justwannabeme 04-14-2013 08:42 AM

day going good despite 29 degrees and cloudy AGAIN!

and then i see the cheerful janitor started DTR all fuzzy and warm....
(sarcasm icon) you forgot the ford ad....

scot pa is more reflective of where he actually is? scottyfarmall, scottynebraska, scottycommonsense, scotty the third? pick one.[coffee]

outta here. gonna make sure my tenant has all he needs for comfort.

jhenson 04-14-2013 10:35 AM

Slow morning at work so figgerd I'd see what was happnin' in here. Quiet so far. I guess I'm still curious about the whole Scot_pa being non-existent anymore thing......uh...what's the deal with that? Did he just change his name or fall off the far corner of the earth or what?

Anywho, looks like very nice weather outside this morning....supposed to be 90 by Tuesday!!! Can't wait for that. Had some awesome brisket last night at the brother-in-laws house......he bought it from the FFA fundraiser.....probably the best I've had in a LONG time. The Shiner beer went down too smooth as well. 6 am came quite early today.[dummy]

Think I'll spend my time at home tonight recuperating (i guess that's how you spell it....may need to check with twitchit...he graduated from claudes school of typing ya know?)

I better get busy doing something. Later.

Tallguy67 04-14-2013 11:07 AM

I might have figured out the Scot_Pa mystery. We have a member named NE_FARMHAND who very closely resembles Scot.....

NE frmhnd 04-14-2013 11:34 AM

No, but you had to keep 2 or 3 ballast resistors in the glove box.

Oh, just so you all know, scot pa is no longer with us.

You got it, I'm still here. Just decided to get rid of the Pennsylvania confusion my name used to bring up from time to time. Could have easily fallen off a Honda the other day. We got some snow, then the ground we run off to the east got sleet later in the day, had an inch of snow that only heavy off-road tires on a diesel would break through. Was interesting at times on the bike with good front tires and worn-out rears.

The only one I can think of right now is that in Saskatchewan you can see your dog run away for 2 days.
That's why people from Illinois have beady little eyes.

right if I recall you had an old first gen that used to be a box truck or something like that..a 2wd 350 with a getrag?
Nope, only one I've had is the one I got now.

ScottNeb, yes sir! introduced to cowboy poetry in Virginia city NV. wow!
agree with all the pretty boys now in music. You ever talk with members here? lotsa real cowboys. two might be around your age.
I did some weekends with the high country 'boys (of all ages) oh my gosh they are tough!!! rugged area. little known stuff outside of tv land...
I'd like to get to Elko someday. And I don't claim to be much of a cowboy, but I do wear out my own jeans.

Diodes have been internal to the alternator since the 1950's. You are blessed with a broke in the box new alternator.

Oxygen sensors sense oxygen. The code is a clue, not an answer.

Maybe take it to a real shop for real answers, or do some testing and have the knowledgeable folks on this DTR site help you out.
Oxygen sensors can go bad, but so can the wiring. They have a heater built in now-a-days that can go bad. The heater is to bring them up to operating temp and get mixture info back to the computer and get it out of warm-up mode faster.

I'm not a farmer but I worked on farms for years as a young fellow. It's hard not to like a B, once it starts.
These are red, not green. I liked raking with it because of the low rear tires, I could swing the LR tire back under the rake frame, turn around and run my front tires down the hay I just rolled up, and leave a square end on my windrow. Only trouble was it was so slow.

Think I may have found a camera with a chance I won't kill it within a year. Think I might buy one. Olympus Tough TG-820 iHS Digital Camera, evilpay item 370797010672.

Think I am going to run to Bartley and try out the cafe. It's closed and re-opened twice in the last 2 years. Maybe this lady can make a go of it.

Down to 4 pastures. Two need a ton of posts. The others we just picked up this winter and it looks like I shouldn't need anything but a few staples, we'll see. Did find a couple new creek crossings on the 1200 acre pasture. One I was told about, turns out it's the old road. Funny how an old road sticks around out here, about the only thing that takes them out of the plow. The other crossing Cory found when he thought the one I did a bunch of shoveling on was too washed out to use again. Then I think I found a spot that with a little more shoveling can get us across the big creek at the north end of the pasture.

Came up with a theory. If I move a little dirt and place it in the right spot, I shouldn't have to do too much digging to make new crossings, the rain should do it for me. Already working on one spot.

I'll have to take some pictures.

Scotty 04-14-2013 11:59 AM

Greetings!

The most recent storm stayed south of us...warnings all over ND with lots of snow and wind...when will this end?
Seems like we are going to set a record low temp this week and then see near 70F the next wk. If the far far ahead forecast is accurate...the melt will be fast and troublesome. :(

I hope everyone has a great wk...I am outta here in the a.m. and doing some more local runs that will keep me closer to home for awhile.

[coffee]

Dang it, boy... seems like IB's name is mud around here... guess we should have put that in the contract, huh?

Black almond bubblegum... I'm not sure if I should try some or throwup...

Afternooner to all. Back from church, lunch is over... gotta do something productive in the house. Planted the garden yesterday and Friday night... not much of one, but it keeps the wife happy.

Ho hum... hope everyone is doing well. I'll try not to be so much of a stranger this week.

(Scott really got me with the free beer thing... ):chug:

PistolWhipt 04-14-2013 03:18 PM

Good to hear Scot PA wasn't abducted by butt-diddlin' aliens or anything ... It's good to change your name every once in a while. Keeps the folks running the witness protection program on their toes.

Good message at church today ...something about being nice to your spouse. I'm sure there was more to it, but that was the flaw that I pointed out to Mrs. Pistol. I'll be cooking my own dinner again this evening .... [duhhh] .

Soak up the rest of the relaxing day ... Monday is coming with a vengeance !!

Cheers,
PISTOL

Justwannabeme 04-14-2013 04:30 PM

so many folks here to help new tenant, parking area was full (8 vehicles).
worked out well, good guy.
son called; his wisdom tooth kicked him last night, and 92 jeep not driving smooth. we trailered the jeep and took him shopping, lunch- parent stuff, despite how independent they get. if he wasn't hurting so bad, we'd [dummy] for not tightening lug nuts (driving condition he felt) BUT pass front bearing might be going, shimmy there. tie rod ends are center shot but still tight (might as well replace). hour ride each way really chewed up the day.

got a gallon of sap from a walnut tree. gonna see what that does. if i don't post this week, it was nice knowing y'all.[coffee]

Tallguy67 04-14-2013 05:10 PM

Heidi, while I commend your syrup making adventures, if you decide to make syrup from pine sap, I will have to pass. Around these parts we call that turpentine!!!

The loose lug nuts could have turned out worse. Our next door neighbor's daughter lost her entire driver's side front wheel on a gravel road while traveling at 50 mph. She got very lucky. The Suburban she was driving stayed straight when she lost the wheel - I still have visions of that vehicle rolling with Jordynn in it. It turns out her mechanic left the lug nuts loose the day before and eventually all of the lug studs snapped off. She kicks herself because she knew something was wrong and like your son, couldn't figure out what. Unlike your son, she kept driving [dummy]

Her mechanic paid to put an entire new steering knuckle on her vehicle but that wouldn't have been much solace if she died.

Justwannabeme 04-14-2013 06:25 PM

yes indeed. one only needs to experience a blown bearing or repair shop air impact over tightening (that will crack your studs) for a bit of experience to not let that happen twice....

seneca indians here still use pine trees for about 20 problems... cooked sap and pitch makes a brutal steel glue. like welded... they will seal plumbing or hot stove pipe with it. hate to see what they do with practical jokes....

ok TG, let me hear about some hot tub time, wine and good food with DW.
I can live vicariously.....[coffee][coffee]

Tallguy67 04-14-2013 06:37 PM

JWBM, hate to say but no hottub on work nights. I feel like 10lbs of feces in a 5lb bag if we hottub on work nights. Dinner is Tuscan chicken and Greek salad. I am looking forward to it. The winter storm that has been hovering over us for the last 36 hrs has finally started to move to the SE part of the province.

DW has been doing taxes all afternoon (we met when we both worked at H&R Block). She was a tax research specialist and I was the Manager of the IT dept so don't ask me tax questions. While she was working I made tomorrow's breakfast, and prepped tonite's supper, nothing very exciting in this house today - sorry I can't give you vicarious thrills.

Actually the exictement for today was when she gave me a haircut. I have a similar hairstyle to Madhat. Trimmer with #3 attachment for the whole job and I am happy. I was starting to feel like a hippie last week.

Throw up. It might not be all that fun for you, but the entertainment value for us would be worth the price of admission! :hehe:

Evening all.

I cut my hair two weeks ago. Think I used #6, which is 3/4 inch. Tried #8 (inch) but my hair wouldn't feed into the clippers properly.

We sorted fall calves off their mommas today, shipping them tomorrow. Cory is sick and won't be here, and the boss' dad is leaving for a bull sale as soon as we are done feeding. So it'll be me and the boss trying to count them out and load them onto the bull rack. Could be REAL fun!

Gonna go wash the dirt and carp and stuff outta my hair.. ears... nose... mouth... and go get some supper and groceries. Flippin wind was blowing today. Eyes feel like they are wrapped in sandpaper, couldn't see for half the trip back to the pasture for the second load of calves.

Might ask about buying one of the replacements we sorted off. I would like a few of my own just to say I own something,

Anyone else find it ironic that the master tournament was won last year, by a guy named Bubba?

I guess I was your unwitting accomplice in that one, not logging in for a few days.

I have been thinking of getting custom plates. I could go with 160 CMNS, but then what would I do with the Amigo and the half ton once I get it going? So I think FRMHND1, 2, and 3 are viable options, I suppose.
