Mornin everyone...

Scott, I thought you guys made up a long time ago... Don't sweat it, that guy is a butthole anyhow...

Watched the fights last night, over at one of my buddies houses, he lives about 4 streets down, so I rode my DUI mobile out there... fun times riding a bicycle. At least I have lights and a helmet....

Not doing much today...

Afternoon All!

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. Enjoying some crappy weather on this 1st day of May. Got light flurries of snow this morning.

On a brighter note, got some good work in on my project bike. Working on a '79 Yamaha XS650. Hardtail rear end, stretched 4" and dropped 2". Making a bobber out of it.

Howwwdeee!
Beautiful sunny morning. A little on the cool side, we had some frost. Sitting here looking out the window trying to figure out what I can put off until tomorrow.
I was also thinking of tapping some of that frame trowing seal oil and making some bio.

No he ain't. I was and he gave me what I had comin'!

Evening all. Planned on sawing today but ended up fighting with the Ex-Mark mower. AGAIN. I don't know what people see in those things. They are the absolutely worst put together machine I have ever had the displeasure of working on. Had to pull half the machine apart just to get the clutch off. The clutch that was NEW one season ago. Even changing the drive belt for the hydraulic system is a 3 hour chore.

Okay, I'm done.

Evening.

Checkin' in.

Found some fresh roadkill for the Old Buzzards to peck at. It's a mix of Hellhounds, Chupacabra, and Yeti.

Work is going well. Rain stopped the other day, so i got to mow friday afterwork. Garden is doing very well too. Couple weeks and I'll be planting the tomaters and then the peppers.

Dinner tonight was tacos made with some ground Bison with rice on the side.

Scott, never used and Ex-mark or know anyone that has. I've always stuck with using Toro or John Deere equipment for mowing. It's what my father has always used and the equipment he owns has lasted many many years.

Everyone that sees that thing says', Oooo, ExMark! Those are niiice!" I don't see it. I'd like to get an 'F' model JD or a Toro Groundsmaster. We need an 'out-front' type of mower around here. Even a zero turn wouldn't work real well unfortunately.

Broke my line.
Another great day fisihing. Rototilling Wifey's garden on today's agenda.

Y'all be safe, and enjoy the weekend.
Sounds like my luck, but it makes a great story.

So stop fighting it and put up an electric fence. Then you can turn the sheep loose and ewe'll have an "up front" mower.

Evening folks. Got in a little earlier tonight. Going to try to get by the chiropractor in the morning. I slipped and nearly fell this past Wednesday night helping the S&R folks and tweaked something in my back. If I move a little the wrong way I just about hit the ground. Then to top that off, one of the "younger" guys on my buddy's crew wanted to try the old guy this afternoon, 23 vs 53. All in good fun, but he better be hurting tomorrow. He did mention something about being surprised. Surprised me too, didn't think I could last that long.

It's been an interesting few days so far. I can't watch it on the news any more, information overload. The number of people out just checking on basic needs has been amazing. It seems like there's always somebody handing you a bottle of water or a sandwich and the victims are so happy just to see you get there. I've seen a couple folks get stupid but the vast majority are just calling themselves blessed to have survived. My wife even spent the day in Tuscaloosa with some of the ladies from our church. I'm sure she'll be tired and excited when she gets home.

I wanted to share a story from today. I worked on a house for a young man who lives there with his wife and 7 year old daughter. When the storm came they went into the basement, huddled up and did their best to shelter their daughter with their own bodies, as we all would do. The dad, Chris, said at one point the daughter looked up the best she could and said "Daddy, I'm OK with this storm but you're squeezing me so tight it hurts". I thought about that the entire day while I was working to clear the trees from his house and fence. When it was time to go I had to take a moment to pray with him and ask the Lord to bless his daughter with a gift. I asked if she ever wondered how much her father loved her that she would remember that night and how he shielded her with his love. I don't make a habit of sharing prayer specifics with folks who weren't there but this young fellow made an impression on me and I thought his story might touch your hearts as well. I took a picture of the sign in the front of this man's house because I thought you'd like it as well. As soon as I can get it to load I'll attach it. His flag was flying out front as well.

Dad has a Toro Groundsmaster that he use for his property. It was built around 91 or 92. Nice mower, I've ran it a few times. Unit is diesel powered and has only had a few issues. Worst was the gear box on the deck, he lost a seal and ran it dry and had to rebuild it. Other issues have been in the wiring, just the usual old wiring issues, mainly broken and corroded wiring. Now he has a really nice finish mower its a National Triplex. It's a reel mower and it's very basic but very dependable.

They are their own brand. http://www.exmark.com/ Look at them. Memorize what they look like. Read about them. Learn everything you can about them. Then run in the opposite direction as fast as you can!

Rick, that was quite a moving story about Chris and his family. Thanks for sharing it. I've been thinking for the past few days about what you're doing down there, and I think I'd like to do the same at some point in the future. I don't know what has moved me in that direction, I've been around disasters and destruction my whole adult life, but unexplainably, it's something I'd like to do.

Matt, your dad's Toro sounds like it's just what I'm looking for. I saw one on an auction site that had the bat wing mowers as well as the one out front. Made for a 13' cutting width. That might make the 5 acres of grass here get cut significantly quicker!
