Sorry people, but I have never paid for and oil change in my life. Heard too many horro stories from the "convinient Lube" places. A friend of mine went to one of those places and the kid filled the engine on her van right up to the top of the filler. Yes she got a new motor, but at what cost.

For anyone that thinks $100 is OK for an oil change...
Please come by my house and I will change your oil with a Mopar or Fleetguard filter and 3 gallons of non synthetic oil. You can sit on the porch swing and watch if you like. This offer includes a glass of sweet tea (lemon optional)
For another $100 I will change your fuel filter.

Our local Dodge dealership sends me coupons for $49 diesel oil changes. I can't beat that by much ,but I enjoy doing my own service.

You think that 105 US$ is bad for an oil change?

A friend of mine in Germany had his oil changed by a Chrysler dealer- he drives a 98.5 CTD.

They filled it with 19 liters of 0W30 API SF (No C rating at all, oil mfg doesn't recommend use of this oil in diesels) and charged him 490 Euros including tax. (Approx 700US$) - But this included a an orange oil filter with a big FRAM logo.
The amount of oil was on the bill.
Since then I am doing his oil changes and I do only manage to get about 14 liters into it and I use Valvoline PBE.

I do wonder why this particular Chrysler dealer doesn't have too many CTD's in for oil changes any more?

When i was out of state in Florida i seen down there somewhere that it was 110 just for a brake change, then you would also have to pay for the brakes. And it was 75 for an oil change, then you had to buy the oil. I sat and laughed forever when i seen that. Its crazy and i'm sure they are getting customers otherwise their prices wouldn't be like that

And the only thing i run in my engine is Rotella T. And most places dont have that so i just do it myself. Id never let someone change my oil. I want to know whats done with my vehicle and how its done. Otherwise i will worry until i check it out myself

To me it's not even about the cost. I would never trust those minimum wage grease monkeys with my truck. Period. They can forget to tighten the drain plug, overfill the oil, put on the wrong filter....or a whole host of other things. Usually im sure they are fine. But it only takes once to screw it up. Remember, to them....your truck is just another piece of iron for the business to make money on and to the kid (constant turnover) doing it......he is just wanting to get it over and done and go home and see his gf or play xbox.

No offense intended to anybody here that does type of work. But that is just my experience with it. I will do my own, thanks.

all you need is a 1/2 drive ratchet, extension, flex/universal joint,

and 1 1/8 socket, and a oil filter cap tool, and a 3/8 adapter

some old cardboard, and a oil pan.

use the 3/8 socket adapter to take out the drain plug,

the extension & adapter & filter tool to remove filter from bottom,

the ratchet, extension, flex joint, and 1 1/8 socket to take off fuel filter lid,

reassemble reverse.

put empty rotella jugs back in 3 jug case, pour old oil in. do something with it.
i used to have a 1st Gen buddy who burnt ALL my used oil in his truck.

look for leaks.

don't tell mama you saved $50 - she'll want new shoes (or a purse....)

I got 10 free oil changes from my dealer. While I was in the process of buying the truck I told my salesman that Ford offered lifetime free oil changes. He said he couldn't promise me lifetime but he would get me what he could. Well I have gotten 10 so far and I went back and used my last coupon on #10 and I asked for him and was told that he moved to Dallas and is now in the medical transcription field. But hey, I saved quite a bit of money. Now I'm gonna start putting Amsoil in. My parents are Amsoil distributors and there is a local lube station that will change for very cheap with me providing the oil.

With all the chatter about dealer cost I just looked up my last bill from the dealer. Lube oil and filter/ parts and labor $42.34
Diesel fuel filter. Parts and labor $43.78
Put new screws in mud flap that would not stay on. $0.00
Shop supplies, what ever that is. $2.48
With tax and all total bill $93.10
That was my 4th oil change at that dealer, next on is free.
That will bring the average cost of 5 LOF to 33.87 plus tax and misc.
Just for what it's worth.
Also I know several Jiffy Lubes in WA state use Shell Rotella for diesels.

I may see what they charge for a diesel now.
The only reason I have it done is I dont have the setup for doing it.
setup??? like a bucket and a filter wrench? I do mine in the driveway and my buddy has a lift. its so easy it not worth drivining a 1/4 mile down the road and use his lift. just my .02 man and i like knowing that it was done right by me.

I paid $65 for my first oil change at a local dealer, and they topped off all the fluids and washed it.

That sounded like a pretty good deal after I went to the closest "5 Star" dealer and got quoted $98 and no wash, so I jumped on it. Service advisor even offered to do the G30 recall while I waited, so I think I'll go back.

Besides, all my waste oil containers are full.....

THat is a good average price - mine offers the 5th free as well, but at $96 a change, it still isnt worth it... but how can they charge 43.78 for a fuel filter? $12 filter and 5 minutes of work? I want that kind of profit....
