I started grinding 3rd and 4th gear around 99K. At 217K something went very bad. Turns out the throw out bearing was shot and the pilot bearing had seized up. $2900 later I have a new stock clutch, rebuilt tranny, new input shaft, and new carrier bearing. I know, I should have upgraded the clutch, but the original made 217K. If you are in the Austin area, I highly recommend Longhorn Transmission in Cedar Park. Very good customer service, a fair price, and got my truck back in less than a week.
