Me and the PO.

my main beef with my wagoneer is that while it is a 1987 model year, it is built on 60's technology. the production run goes from 63-91. i should have considered this before i purchased.

but most of all, it was just the stupid little things that kept going wrong. problems i never had with my 85 ramcharger. in the end, she ended up having horrible blow-by because a blown "power valve" was causing the cylinders to be washed down with fuel and bringing my MPG's to an impressive 7 highway. needless to say, she wouldnt pass smog and i wasnt ready to throw a couple grand on a new engine. apperently the power valve blowing is a common occurence with the 2bbl the wags used. one engine burp and that could spell the end. dont get on it right away and you can have yourself a serious oil burner, in a bad way! another thing i didnt really like was the 4wd system. one cool thing is that you could use it full time because it had a differential in the T-case that would cause the driveshafts to slip when needed. some drawbacks were the weak chain driven T-case, and the fact that the hubs were not selectable in any way. front wheel drive was engaged withing the T-case so even in 2wd you were still pushing around the entire front drivetrain, much to the chagrin of my MPG's .

they just arent the most reliable of vehicles, and most of the people @ www.ifsja.org will probably tell you the same, although they are VERY loyal to their FSJ's , and a good bunch of people. if anyone plans on getting an FSJ i highly reccomend that site.

on a side note, an FSJ with a 4bt would be pretty kick butt!

T-minus 45 days until my FJ40 is done. Can't wait for a Paragon shakedown run. Nice rigs in previous posts. It is good to see CTD wheelers too.

Now I know why I have not seen your truck around Dover in a while! Looks like you are having fun down there.

Hey LanceD,

What the heck are you doing in Guam? It does look like there is some good wheeling down there.

From: Red Oak, NC- trapped in Raleigh though

Aint afraid to put it through anything, but it mainly gets relegated to recovery operations so I don't break something expensive

I couldn't afford an atv, so I got a nissan, v-6 5 speed
mods: cummins airbox and 33's w/ no lift. (slight body mods as well)

In the background is the '73 F-100, 2wd w/ 33's on the back to gear it up.
That thing aint been stuck but twice and has pulled out several Z-71s

We also got a '79 CJ-5 w/ a 304 on 33's, but no pics
