Rim question

what exactly is backspacing? alot of people talk about it, but I don't know what it is...what a newbie question... [laugh]

Measurement from the inside mounting surface of the rim to the inside edge.

Stock rims are around 6.25 inches,
most aftermarket are 4.5 inches.

Just in case you're interested: The alternate measurement that's used by some wheel manufacturers is Offset. This is a measurment of how far the wheel mounting surface is offset from the centerline of the wheel, specified as positive or negative offset depending on if it's offset to the outside or inside.
