I am always hesitant on who I pull out. People these days will sue your a## off if something happens. I will pull out people I know though. I did pull out someone this summer who got in the ditch some how. When they were driving away I could tell that the car was not driving straight. I don't know if I did that our if they did it going into the ditch. It sure was funny though!

Shoot, those aren't recovery straps... at least 3" wide is what ya want...
But with a rig not having real recovery points, I would only winch it.
"Snatching" a vehicle stuck in mud can be a violent activity on both vehicles involved.
My real question is: *** was he smoking when he thought that a Liberty could make it through that? The trail rated thing going to their head again?

Tell your coworker that if he had gone through the mud with a CJ he would not have gotten stuck in the first place and would have been able to save himself the embarassment of getting pulled

Also, your question is a valid one! A stock Liberty will need much more mph to have a prayer in making it through that!

Not only is it just a Liberty, but it seems to have stock rubber on it as well.
That looks just like what I got my truck stuck in, stock rubber as well, just less watery.

When I first read this the other day I was invisioning that your co-worker like drove out of the parking lot and got stuck in a grassy/field area. This guy is really trying to mud hop a Liberty?!!
A little more clearance and some meats and he might have made it through there.
Oh, well. It's fun to poke at others mishaps, live and learn.............
and have a photo to rel-ive it if he every gets cocky in the future.

I love the comments
As some of you commented I would not have attempted that with that jeep.
Yes they are stock tires that are sad for a Jeep.
Them straps were junk which is why I snaped one (they were the co-workers) and why there is 3 of them in that pic. They were rated to 3,000lbs so I figured that 3 would give me more like 9,000lbs.
No one at work has really busted his chops. His wife summed it up with "what are you stupid or something" so I left it with that. Oh and sent out an e-mail to most of the company with the pics.

Back on the road
Nope he is not still stuck he called the tow truck. AAA actually covered it. Which was a shocker. A flatbed with a winch pulled it out with no problem.
Do you think that he should get his front/rear fluids changed??

Lol! Glory days!!!
Axels should be ok just check for the milkshake look of the fluid after driving.
Pull all the tires and clean the mud out.
If the rear brakes are drums pull them and rinse the mud out.
Park it on the yard hook up a rainbird underneath and move it around every 15 minutes to help with the clean up!
Get a 30k(min) Snatchem strap, a high lift jack, a portable shovel, a 5k come along and a set of tires!!!
LOL Glory days!!

Hmm...I know my eyes are'nt what they used to be, but is that Liberty even a 4x4?
Wife has a Liberty CRD, along with the 4x4 badge on the tail right under the JEEP logo & the "Trail Rated" badge both sides of the forward fenders just past the mirrors. The one in the picture ain't got either!
Lord I hope the driver didn't really try that in a 4x2!!!!
