Bobbed the bed 10 inches

I took 10 inches out of the rear of the truck for better departure angle offroading. everytime I would get stuck somewhere it was because of junk hanging off the rear. its not quite finished yet but here are a few pics:

Well done, Lance. Looks perfect.

Is your truck completely Line X'ed (or Rhino Lined, etc.)? That's cool!

Finally, are you from the contiguous states but moved to Guam? How do you like living there?

LOGAN 08-15-2007 01:47 PM

looks good lance, 10 is about all you can do before you get into the body line isnt it?? i remember when you put the 60 under your truck and that was forever ago.

blackdiesel 08-15-2007 02:01 PM

ah, i think he stopped at 10" cause of the rear spring pearch.... strictly a guess though :)

Diesel Dummy 08-15-2007 04:31 PM

looks good lance, fully modded trail buggy before you know it, and cummins powered to boot!!!!!!!!!

LOGAN 08-15-2007 04:55 PM

it was that also, you go much further on the bodyt though and you run into body line issues cause of the swelling of the bed sides.

LanceD 08-15-2007 10:40 PM

yeah, 10 was it, the springs being the limiting factor. no need to go farther if the springs are sticking out haha.

I did have to modify the body still, the bed is about an inch wider total than the back part that I welded back on. thats what the relief cuts are for that go forward and towards the wheel.

Guam is awesome, beautiful island, great people too. only thing I don't like about here is how much plane tickets cost to go home and visit. also shipping parts here is $$ too.

Great looking work man!

Dangerous Dave 11-09-2007 08:51 PM

Way cool...

If you are into such things that is...

I've never seen a need for a way lifted big tired 4x4, but that's just me.

displacedtexan 11-09-2007 09:46 PM

I don't see the need for it, but it is evident Lance has put a lot of work and thought into his truck, and although I have absolutely no need for such a truck I do admire all he has done.

wildcat 11-09-2007 10:05 PM

Well, Ain't that the beauty of this Board! [laugh]
You don't have to see a need for it! [nonono]
You just have to appreciate someone chasing their dream like some others on here wih programmers and fuel systems etc.! [dummy]

It's all good, brothers! Accept one another!

Aint that the truth. I see some of these rigs and think there is no way I would ever do that to my truck. And at the same time see the effort, thought, and love put into it. There are people that prob wouldn't care much for my truck, but it is what I want:D

LanceD 11-09-2007 10:58 PM

heres why I did it, I go offroading about every couple of weeks, and of all the times I get hung up, its on the rear end, here are examples:

not hung up on the last one but I did break a light

OK I'm a little tied up by your signature line!

I LOVE IT!

We all might not "Get one another", but I think we are all on the same team!

Custom work like bobbing a bed, or modding a fuel system, or installing a bunch of bolt on aftermarket products, kinda throws us into the category of " It just ain't good enough for me... edit the warranty, ima do somethin'" BTW, That doesn't make us all bad...[coffee]

BTW, Nice Wheelin' pics!!
