big lift big tires??? whats your 2 cents??

Alright guy, Im looking into lifting my 02 cummins 4x4 6spd. Im leaning towards the dick cepek 6inch long arm kit, which is now actually a different name but same product. Im planning on using the kit with my leveling kit which would give me 8 inches in front. Im planning on buying some adj trac bar links for the extra 2 inches. and ill just add another 2 inches in the rear. dual blisten shocks in front and singles in rear. And also a 3 inch body. So id have roughly 10-12 inches of lift all together. I want the biggest tires i can fit under that setup. 40s-44s maybe bigger if possible. IM just looking for ppls opinions and better ideas and also pictures of similar setups. Thanks

I guess im going to go with the 41x14.5x17 super swamper iroks since i cant find any bigger offroad aggressive radial tires. My questions is will they fit a 17x9 inch wheel? Any other suggestions of tires i could run? I want a mean aggressive look. Thanks

Why would you do something like that? 17x9? You need to find some beadlocks for those tires. .02

Those are the wheels that i want. The xd series addicts. I like less rim more tire. Im not big on the big wheels. 17x9 was smallest i could find in diameter in those wheels. Wish i could find some wider ones, but i am very picky and those are the ones i like. Thanks

Yes they will fit. I have 37x12.5 on my 17x6" dual wheels!

they will easily fit and I would run that width on that wheel. I can fit a 40x13.50 on my 4.5" lift (it actually lifted the truck about 6") For a taller agressive tire try the michillin militarys. I have the XL's and like them except they are VERY loud. I would like to try the XZL or XML. They go up to about 54" on a 20" wheel and 38.8" on a 16" wheel. The 16" wheel flavor is narrow and you may not like that.

I had a similar set up on my truck and ran 37"s with no issues. I did have 39.5"s on it and there was some rubbing. I had the 6.5" superlift with 2" spacers. the main issue will be with the fact that the arms may have to be modified and lengthened to obtain the correct geometry. I had to do that to my Kit.

40 on a dd, not for me. is it going to be a street truck, or a play truck?

street i would stay at 8" and 37's

play i would go bigger

if your lifting a 2nd gen dodge, you can fit alot bigger tires with 10-12in of lift. i had about 9in of lift and ran a 40x17x16.5. it rode rough, was fun while it lasted but i am now back down on 35's. The DC long arms are great, you will love them, but i would think of running 37's instead, it will make it a lot nicer to drive on the road! just my 2cents

14.5 wide tires on a 9 inch wide rim is going to make them wear in the middle a little faster than if you could find some wider rims.
I would stick with a radial tire, like your thinking, if you are doing a lot of road driving.
My old '72 Powerwagon on unbalanced 38.5x15.5x15s TSL radial Super Swapers on BEADLOCKS [15x11] have been over 100MPH.
A little scary in a lifted out mudtruck but the radial tire spun very true for how big and heavy they are.

Ok, I have a question, what is the largest size tire & wheel I can put on my 2010 dodge 2500 4x4 without installing a lift ?

Thanks for any help.

Nsomniac05 Nov 11, 2010 08:27 PM

You can run 37's with a little trimming and a lot of rubbing. A skinny set of 35's is probably the biggest you can go with with zero modifications.

DJM Nov 11, 2010 09:33 PM

ok what is considered "skinny" ?

Nsomniac05 Nov 12, 2010 06:01 AM

usually 37's come as 12 1/2 in wide. that will be the max for you. 10 in will be better but might look a little awkward.
