Rockingham Wrap-Up
It all started with a prank call from Cris telling me that I was late for the convoy briefing and my stomach falling out my feet...Very funny there Cris. Then we rolled out....with the exception of a few state troopers and a little traffic we made it to Rockingham in a little over 3 hours.
Pizza Hut...Oh my god. One waitress and 1.5 hours later everyone was fed and ready to go. If only we knew that later that night a lot of us would regret it, because the pizza seemed to have been bad...Long drive home for the Jacksonville crew with sick stomachs and no open facillities.
Diesel Fuel and the lack there of...So were running west on 74 and JP calls and says "Nate, we need to fuel up stop at the BP". No problem. BIG PROBLEM. Between I95 and Wilminton there is not one station open at 1AM so John_P has the only common rail capable of running on air...bbecause when we rolled into Leland he had 0 fuel. The needle was burried in the dash.
Good night at the track...found out that me and McMushy or whatever they were calling Phil are a dead match. His 12 Valve and my CR are an exact match..And he knocked me out of the brackets twice by....well here are the stats..

Nate:
Good report buddy!
Nate is right about NO GAS STATIONS after you get out of the Rockingham Area going E/B on Highway 74 towards Wilmington! I can tell you we tried THREE gas stations, including the BP at Hwy 74 and I-95, which in the past had been open 24 hours. NOT ANYMORE! As he said, how I was able to "limp" my 2006 Dodge CTD CR all the way to Leland is beyond me as I KNOW I was on more than just fumes!! Nate I want to SINCERELY THANK YOU for hanging with me on the way home buddy! It was comforting to know that if I had run out of fuel, I had you there to help me buddy!
THANKS ALOT Nate!
Nate is also right about something possibly wrong with the food from "Pizza Hut." I felt terrible near the end of the racing and apologize for having to leave so abruptly. But I am wondering if possibly the tomato sauce or cheese may have been bad in the pizza.
Other than that, a great, fun event. Lesson learned?? Yeah,.....I won't leave Rockingham again without getting fuel.

Man, I've been in that boat before.....actually I was pulling (heavy -34' boat) and decided I didn't need to stop in Clayton going to Wrightsville Beach. This was before I had my auxillary fuel tank. Dude, there are NO fuel stations past I-95 it seems. I finally limped into Burgaw and found a station that had diesel and left the credit card validators at the pump on all night (no attendant). Boy that had me butt puckered because I was on fumes! That was what my motivation was to have the auxillary tank. That is not a good feeling though.
Glad y'all made it home safely.
EDIT: hate a lot of y'all got sick. Most everyone on my table or I was hanging out with ate a pasta dish. The pasta must have not had any issues. I didn't hear anyone complaining of sickness.
