Its Aliveeeeeeeeeee

5SPD SWAP COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vid soon to come. I'll make one tonight or probably tomorrow so I can let my friend videotape while I drive. Can't drive and tape very well now that I have to shift gears [laugh].

All thats left is to patch up the gigantic hole in the floor. I'll rig something up duct tape style for this week and when I have some time off from college come back and patch it all up.

Test drove it for about 30-45 mins with just the downpipe on.

I owe a huge thanks to Phil McMaster (McMopar) for all of his guidance on this project. Same goes for Box5 who was sadly banned from here during one of the Valair incidents. Without these 2 people I would not have completed this project.

I also owe thanks to my dad for help aligning the trans when installing, and my mom for putting up with a whole lot of junk in her yard and the garage.

Good god.

Its just... awesome.

Sounds great, Dennis! You've been on this for a while! Congrats!!!

Yeah, I decided to start swapping a week before college started. Then some parts showed up late, then to top it all off I got sick. So barely anything got done. I've been working on it on the weekends, I'm just glad its finally done!!!

Congrats on the finished project!

Feels good to get it done.

Well, just drove about 120 miles from Chapel Hill down to ECU. Seems to be running good. Noticed more of a squeak when I shut it down now, I guess because there is less resistance when shutting down the engine compared to the auto?

It's also probably the lack of sheet metal and insulation on the floorboard. You did mention you had a large hole to fill and Alabama chrome isn't a permanent fix.[laugh]

Alabama Chrome [laugh][laugh] Haven't heard that one before. Hahaha :)

Nice Job Buddy, glad you got her done!!

Yep, every redneck down here has at least 2 rolls of it just lying around waiting to make something shiny.[laugh][laugh][laugh]

I had 2 sitting in the back of my truck... thats not a good sign [laugh][laugh].

I just love driving the thing now... feels like a whole new truck!

Just means if you come further south than NC, nobody will notice.[redface][laugh] Glad you're enjoying it. Did you fix the 5th gear nut before you put the tranny in?

Nope. When I've got some money lying around I'll probably get the updated mainshaft and a nicer clutch. For now I'll be careful in 5th gear and hope for the best.
