Which would make sense however with the boost I run at cruise I believe the TST may be fighting the ECM to a small extent. Even with the TST on 1 Cruise boost is always higher and temps are higher (by about 50* and 1-2psi) at cruise. If the TST is fueling then the ECM should be backing off and using the same amount of fuel to maintain the speed, but then why the higher temps and boost? TST doesn't do timing so that can't be it...

Yes...and/but, unless your towing the TST won't be fueling anyway...at cruise. That's why I like the TST box in view, to see the more sensitive, green fueling light.

Nope my TST is fueling at cruise...

Test: set your cruise at 75 with TST on 1... Flat level ground, turn TST off and see if you notice a difference... I do!

What psi are you running at 75??

I would bet that you guys TST Comps are fueling at cruise...my standard version will start to fuel slightly on anything higher than 3. So I'd guess the more aggressive Comp would start even lower.

Mine with TST on 1 does no fueling at 70mph. If it does it's to slight for me to notice a difference in the gauges. It'll be interesting to see what the new quad race box (which I get tomorrow) will be like cruising.

I have done the test..just like that and see no difference; therefore, assume no fueling at cruise. The light on the TST box starts to flicker green at same time you feel the fueling, SOP.
But since TST should be fueling at 1-3 psi, it's confusing?

At 75 mph I pull 8-10 psi boost on level ground.

Correction. Post above was from memory... with Smarty on #3. Just got back from Sherman, and now that Smarty is on #5, TST fuels on #1 at 75 mph.
However, EGT's don't appear tp be higher?? (is kind of cool this am). My above report of 800* at 70-75 mph is from mid summer. Has not changed over 4 yrs of going from Stock to 500+ hp.

We're coming from the north, so we'll meet you at Redline. That is unless you would like to join us in Sadelia on Friday night. If we meet at the track, why don't you PM me your cell #. Sometimes it gets a little crowded and crazy and it hard to find someone you've never seen.

We are a pretty east crowd to find. Just look for a really tall old guy and a really short and skinny old fart that are hovering around a line of trucks.

Well I made the trip to Missouri (state of Misery ). Actually I love it up here and would love to move here some day.

Pulled the brother-in-law's John Deere Tractor 6410. I went ahead and weighed in at some CAT Scales along the way and it actually weighed more than even he thought it did. I thought that it weighed less than he did!

Anyway...weights were 5020 front axle, 6200 something on rear truck axle, and 15000 something on the trailer...for a total of 26,380lbs!!! Only 5380lbs more than my GCVWR is supposed to be at 21,000 . I do not recommend this to anybody. I got lucky and we had no issues. But I was surprized at how much that pig weighed.

I didn't change the Smarty. Ran it on #9 the whole way. EGTs were about 1000 most of the way and hit 1200 on a few of the steeper hills. I started off running in 3rd gear, but it was doing so well that I went ahead and kicked it up to 4th. Ran 70 most of the way with no problem. Felt like I had the Weekend Warrior or something back there....not something that weighed twice that. Getting started from a light was a little slower, obviously, but once I got it moving...it never wimpered a bit. Transmission temps stayed at or below 180 degrees except in one town where I hit a series of about 4 or 5 red lights and had to build up momentum again in between each.

My truck made me proud! That is the most weight I have ever pulled or the truck.....and don't plan to ever do it again.

Good mornin' gents. I've recently joined this plethora of diesel knowledge and, well I'd like to crawl out from under the garage and socialize. Where the hell is "The Ranch", we'll call it a date.

The Ranch is a looong way from Porter. It's between Van Alstyne and Westminster, which is northeast of McKinney. If you don't mind the drive, come on up and join us.

Also, there is the BCS chapter out of College Station. A bunch of young punks, but some pretty good guys. There is also a thread about trying to start a Houston chapter.

Either/or........Welcome to DTR.

You've really got the best of both worlds. Cooler is not always better. In theory, and all other things being equal, the CTD runs most efficiently at higher EGT's.

BLUSMOKEY - Welcome!

Just checked Sherman area forcast. Going to clear up in time for the weekend and be beautiful! but depending on how well your place drains... the ground will be wet/soft.
We have had over 1" an hr., non stop since 6 am! Looks like it's coming right over Sedalia, Sherman, Dennison and my house! Got a lake in my backyard up to within 10 ft of the house! As high as I've seen it in ten yrs!

This rain has been really crazy. Fortunately, both my house and The Ranch are both on high ground. We should be OK next weekend, as long as we stay along the back fence row and don't venture in the areas I have to mow. It's hard to mow over ruts.
