Next meet for VA DTR?
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Hey guys,

I hafta work this saturday, so I'd have to miss it, but I'd be able to come to a meet on the 31st. Dad and I are going to try to fight off the rain tonight and head to the strip down here. I'd be interested in the strip up there, though, to try a few different things before Muncie ;D

John
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Hello All,

I've been rather busy with all the folks returning lately. Talked to Chris on Mother's Day, he's back from IRAQ, cleaning equipment and waiting for them to set a date to return. Yeep Yee ;D sooner would be nice, but I don't expect to see him till maybe Memorial Weekend or Later.

I have to work this weekend, more folks returning. I went up to Dover last weekend to send the daughter off, she is going to the other desert environment of Afghanistan.
Chris missed out on talking to his little girl before she left this past Monday.

The end of the month, 31st would be great time for me, humm US. Maybe with fingers crossed I will be able to bring Chris with me ;D ;D

Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
As Johnner said, we should be able to come up if you
guys go on the 31st. We got rained out at the drag strip
tonight. It started raining right after we got there!
I am hoping to get my truck in the high 13's down
here after running in the low 14's out in Colorado.
--------------
Stamey:

Congratulations on getting the ATS Transmission!
You can firm those shifts up some by raising your
line pressures somewhat. Clint can advise you how
to do that! You gotta love that "locked up" shift
feel!

Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
John,
I don't guess it matters how it shifts as long as it doesn't slip. ;D The important thing is being able to use above level 2 on my PM3. ;D I had a very nice time tonight on a 100+ mile trip in the rain on a 2 lane highway. Got lots of slow traffic out there in the rain, but even on level 4 (turned it down to keep from breaking traction in the rain) I have absolutely AWESOME accelleration when passing. I was passing multiple cars at a time because I could accellerate so quickly. Passed 3 at once and a tractor trailer and car at once. It was great. The truck feels so much more powerful with that box, and not having to worry about the tranny falling out is a real GOOD feeling.

I'm all for the drag strip on the 31st if you guys can make it. I may go the 17th also, just to see what my truck will do.

Chris
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
I might even be able to make the 31'st too. I should have this raktor back together by then I sure hope. Been wanting to run this clunker down the quarter anyway just for the fun of it. (probably go to sleep before I get to the other end though)

This would be a good time to talk about preps for the June thing too. Getting closer you know!!!!!!!!!!

DD4x4
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Chris:

I am so glad you are happy with your ATS Transmission!
It sounds like it is performing well for you by the sounds
of that 100 mile trip you took! It really makes a difference
when you can put the power to the ground! ;D Johnner
and I may try to run our trucks at the local drag strip
tomorrow night if it doesn't rain. If we get to run we will
let you know how we do and you do the same for us Chris!

Take care budddy!

--------
John_P
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Sounds like the "meet" will be on the 31st in Richmond at the Drag Strip.
That's two weekends away.
Dodgezilla, we can "Hook up" at the Rest stop just below Dale City.
Is that a good spot?

Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Shovelhead,
I have to work till 12:00 most Saturdays including the 31st. It's a very busy day for me since it's the last day of the month. I rent and sell moving equipment and everybody is moving on the last day of the month.

I guess it all depends on what time you are planning on leaving. I work on Edsall Road in Alexandria. Where is the drag strip in Richmond anyways? Is it near the Nascar track?

Mike L.
Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Here's some background and research on the drag strip. I went to there today to do some recon.
John, It was rained out. :'(

It is Virginia Motorsports Park. It is located just South of Petersburg, Va., Which is about 25 miles South of Richmond.
Directions: Take I-95 to Petersburg, and get on I-85 South (only direction you can go), Take I-85 for about 4 miles to exit 63A, which is US Route 1 South. Follow Rt. 1 for about 4 miles and you will see the drag strip on the right. See map here: http://www.virginiamotorsportspk.com/travelservices.php

When you go into the drag strip you will take the left fork to go to the pit area.

Costs on Saturday: 26.00 for Test and Tune, 30 something for bracket racing. I am not sure but there may be a discount to roll over between the two.
Shcedule for Saturday: Gates open 8:00, Test and Tune from 9:00 to 12:00. Bracket racing starts at 12:00. The tech director I spoke to today said that the Test and Tune can still race during brackets, but the bracket takes priority. This is where he said we could roll over between the 2 race types.

Costs on Friday (if we would ever want to go at that time), Street racing (Street Wars): 15.00, every Friday night. Racing from 17:00 to 23:00. Test and Tune is from 18:00 to 20:00. Brackets starts at 20:00.

Notes:
No weapons allowed. I asked and was told that they have had some pretty heated arguments over ETs.
What's wrong with some people? ???
To run a pickup you must have a cover over the bed or have an empty bed. You should not have mud clods ready to fall off the truck onto the track. (John, you can ignore this part
) The tech director said they have had this happen also.
You must have long pants on and shirt sleeves at least 6" long.
If you run better that a 14.00 you must have a helmet. (John, Banshee?)
If you run better than a 11.50 you must have a roll cage.

This is the track's site:
http://www.virginiamotorsportspk.com

If you have any more questions let me know and I will try to gather the info.

Joel, Tim,
Do we wish to plan an alternate spot in case of rain? I suppose we could still gather there and go some place to eat in any case.
I passed several resturaunts on the way but unfortunately I did not sample their quisene (random spelling).

Chris

Re:Next meet for VA DTR?
Stamey and the entire Va. Crew:

Your plans for the get together sound great! Johnner
and I should be able to make that.

Well, the rain FINALLY held off long enough for Johnner
(banshee) and I to run our trucks at the drag strip in
Jacksonville tonight. My best time was 13.3 @ 97.24
MPH in the 96' Red Ram Rocket. Johnner was right there
with me running 13.4 @ 98 MPH. Those runs were on
good old #2 diesel alone,......No Drugs,....YET!!! ;D
So Stamey,........I guess we will be needing those
helmets after all!!
I only hope we are able to run
that good up in Va.!

Keep us posted guys!

--------
John_P
