Are diesels always last to pull?

Just wondered if in all areas if the diesel class was last to pull?

MHTTPA - yes
MMTTPA - yes

The only time I've ever not been last is if they have semis or an open class pulling. Typically they pull in the order of weight. I've been told this gives the sled operator a chance to "tune" the sled to track conditions (weight and gear). I just wish for once we could run the class in reverse, especially on a sled that has fixed weight in the box and they're only adjusting the gear and trip for the pan.

Oh, I did think of another time where they're not last...

Would more trucks in the class make them pull earlier? I don't know how many trucks you see in Iowa but here it's around 8 trucks. With all the diesels around some of the stock trucks need to pull just to keep it interesting. I would venture if they had a totally stock class more people would pull for fun than to win well maybe not. Some people/most wouldn't be honest enough not to mod. their trucks and say they are stock. Honesty would be the major issue and maybe the Fords and Chevys would win all the time but if it's not for money and fun only why not?

pretty much all season it was me and 1 other guy pulling against eachother, maybe 1 more truck every now and then. we would let stock pull with the superstock if they wanted, usually they didnt.

There are a few places back east they didn't pull last. Like the Buck and a few local pulls where they knew the track and the sled. Other than that, same old same old.....

Most people come to watch diesels pull. I mean wheres the excitement in a gasser hitting the rev limiter to get halfway down the track and stop? If they didn't pull diesels last, nobody would stay to watch the whole thing. ( at least i wouldn't)

Pretty much, I know when we go to bloomsburg and the diesel's are finished, we're out to the truck before they finish pulling those silly gas trucks.

Some of the tractor pulls I've been going to lately have been pulling the heavier classes first, just to try to get those guys done first. Its really up to the people running the pull, they can run whatever order they want.
