1998 VW Jetta TDI 5 Speed
I am selling my 1998 MK 3 TDI 5 speed 4 door Jetta. 173,339 miles. (That number will go up slowly with test drives). This car has been extremely reliable for me. I have owned it since April and it has NOT let me down. Since I have been driving it I have gotten 46 miles to the gallon on my commute back and forth to work. None of that driving is on the interstate but rather through town and county highways. EVERYTHING on this car works as it should. I am selling this car because I have too many in the driveway and it was the last to come so its the first to go. Also, I want a motorcycle and the wife says the Jetta has to go before I get a motorcycle. I really don't want to sell this car because I love this car but I can't pay insurance on three vehicles.
The GOOD
46 miles to the gallon, city/county highway mix
Strong clutch
gears are tight
synchronizers work perfectly
very clean interior, smoke free, stain free, tear free
tinted windows (can be removed)
Ice cold AC, blazing hot heat
tinted windows (can be removed)
power locks
crank windows (will never fail on you!)
aftermarket stereo
aftermarket wheels
good spare, jack, lug wrench
clean title
factory literature inlcuded
RECENT WORK (receipt to prove it, all less than 2000 miles ago)
- timing belt replaced
- air filter
- fuel filter
- oil filter
- oil seal
- EGR delete
- 505.00 Spec oil
- new vacuum lines
- Intake manifold cleaned
The Bad:
- Rusty. Had it inspected, it IS SAFE, just a little ugly. Have pictures of the rust, I am NOT hiding anything. Shown in pictures.
- Tires are good but probably aren't good winter tires
- Crack in front fender, have pictures and can get more by request
I am asking $3000 obo. If you want more pictures I would be happy to get them for you. Cash definitely talks. Also considering trades for a motorcycle of similar value. I do NOT want a street bike. Contact me through PM. I am happy to answer any and all questions. Currently located near Racine WI, but can get the car near Columbus, IN or Fort Wayne, IN.
