Won't Go into gear

Just put in a feramic/feramic valair single disk clutch into my getrag 56 and it is very tight getting in 1st and 2nd and won't go into reverse.?????

Sounds like you need to re-adjust the clutch.

getblown5.9 Dec 30, 2007 09:13 PM

no adjustment on them, its all hydraulic. its either a damaged pilot bearing thats seized up and causing the input to spin when you push the clutch in, or you need upgraded hydraulics cause the stock ones are weak and not pushing the pressure plate far enough

everything is brand new flywheel, clutch, throw out, pilot so I am thinking its the hydros

Hey I'm dealing with this right now also. I have done the hydo's and changed to synthetic. Neither one has helped. Prob the pilot bearing.

Does it help if you put it in 5th gear before you go to 2nd or Reverse?

No it won't go to reverse unless I am rolling back a little, all it needs is about another 1/2'' of pedal at the bottom end but I am hitting the floor.[duhhh]

if you fought with it and had to wiggle and push to get the shaft lined up to get the tranny in, then there is a good chance you could have damaged the pilot bearing.

call valair and find out if you need to lengthen the slave cylinder rod.
