Thinking of selling???

Yea, I've come to the thinking that I may sell my rig. Financially its a good decision since I could get out of debt and since kids are in the future, being out of debt helps. My wife isn't happy about me selling it, but with the figures I worked out, its hard to argue with numbers.

Whats your opinions? I know its going to suck, especially with meeting all of you, loosing a great truck. But there's always room for one in a few years.

don't sell cause you know you'll be wanting it back as soon as you sell it. just buy a beater to drive back and forth to work. thats what i'm doing

fellas... if you look at the total cost of buying, operating, insuring, tags and such you might be better off just putting diesel in your truck. it might be wise to do a complete cost analysis of buying a 4 banger beater that might only last you 3 or 4 years then you have a sunk cost of the initial investment plus the money wasted on insuring the future heap of scrap metal. all those costs will put ALOT of fuel in your truck. im not saying wether or not its worth the investment for anyone, it depends on how far you drive, your insurance rates, maintainence and stuff like that. just dont waste money that you dont have to. we did an analysis of something similar to this in my accounting class and to cover all costs and come out on top you had to drive alot of miles in a hopefully reliable car and when you get a cheap car you dont usually have a reliable one. OR just do what i do.... get a motorcycle, 40-50 mpg, and drive it all summer long and your truck in the winter. The bike is fun and economical not to mention the adrenaline rush of a standup wheelie! hahaha just kidding, i would never. or would i?

I've done all the facts and figures and if I sell my truck (i have till 2011 till the truck is paid off) and use the money I make off it (which is alot), it pays off all my credit cards and other things, puts me in a better spot to save money ($500-$700/month) plus I have to refinance my house and we can really start thinking about kids. (this realitization and maturity thing is scaring me, haha.)

I've done the pros/cons of owning a CTD and I was really suprised. I really don't use the truck for what its for, I'm only getting 13-15mpg since I'm not doing a long drive anymore. With work i'm more in the city now.

Trust me, I've dont alot of thinking, but you can't argue with facts and figures. My wife and I have talked about this for a few weeks now as well as talking with others. She doesn't want me to sell it. I would love to buy a beater vehicle, but it really won't help the cause.

tough situation my friend. not to add more ingredients to your soup but maybe a 2wd 12v is in your future. you could still have your diesel fix and it would be alot cheaper. whatever you chose, i hope it works out for the best.

I just got a 12v 2x4 ex. cab 5 speed with a gear vendors so at 70 my rpms are at the 1500, i paid 4,500. i also got an f-word 4x4 which i was using for a daily driver from Baltimore to Phialdelhia 3 days a week. It is killing me in fuel so i got the dodge for the mileage. but i know what you mean about selling cause of not needing it. when i transfer to baltimore im only going to be like 5 miles from work so ill probably not need a real fuel saving truck. Do whats best your family. Theres always trucks out there, not many roofs over your head.
