My truck has issues....

This has happend three times in the last tree days. Just driving along normal not hammering on it or anything and the engine just shuts off. No idiot lights or guage fluxuations or anything, just shuts down. No engine stutter or noticeable noise or loss of power, unitl the engine quits like I turned the key off. Checked the codes with the 3x with key trick and this is what I get:

P0628 - Low Voltage at Fuel Lift Pump Relay
P0514 - BAT Temp Sensor Rationality
P0191 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Performance

Could the EZ be causing this problem? I haven't gotten under the hood yet, but I plan on disconnecting the EZ and running like that to see how it does.

JP-4.5 Feb 8, 2008 12:21 PM

That would be my 1st step. How many miles on her? Are you still running with the stock lift pump? Do you have a fuel pressure guage?

TKC2000 Feb 8, 2008 12:26 PM

82000 miles and stock pump. No fuel pressure guage. The guages I mentioned are just what's in the dash, I don't have any other guages yet. I really need to do something about that.

Well, your LP is getting ready to dump if you have not had it updated with the in tank unit. NO EGT gauge with an EZ is just asking for trouble.

TKC2000 Feb 8, 2008 12:31 PM

Would the pump still be under warranty?

JP-4.5 Feb 8, 2008 12:38 PM

I am not sure. I changed mine before I ever saw trouble with it. Have it wrapped up in a box in case I ever need it. Do not think I ever will use it.

I would not want the in-tank model as it would even be harder to replace with an aftermarket one if you ever choose to go that way.

Todd, sounds like it is the LP, if it would work we can put my stock in tank one on your truck for now, if I was you I would be ordering me a Air Dog or FASS. I do not think that the LP is covered for 100k warranty. just my .02

TKC2000 Feb 8, 2008 01:15 PM

Just talked with service rep at the local dealer and they can't say for sure if the lift pump is under warranty until I bring it in for a diagnostic check that could run $92 plus what ever parts if it isn't under warranty. But first I will take the EZ off and clear the codes, then see how things go.

I've been thinking about an Air Dog or FASS for awhile now, not that I thought I really needed one but now apparently I might really need one :(

sorry to say it todd but that is the lift pump on the way out has nothing to do with the EZ. sounds like the lp is restricting the flow to the cp3

Sunir Feb 8, 2008 02:02 PM

I thought Lift pump woes were only for us 2nd genners with 24V ISB & VP44

skynyrd Feb 8, 2008 02:21 PM

nope lift pump is everyones problem the stock ones stink! thats why mine got disconnected at like 35k miles and my walbro 392 went in.

TKC2000 make sure to also look at the GDP kits. They are easy to install and work well as many of us have found out.

You also have a chance to think about adding filter system to keep injectors like new..

http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...?pf_id=MK20306

Those were the 2 items I went with.

TKC2000 Feb 8, 2008 02:48 PM

I was already looking at the GDP's in the DTR shop.
So how much longer do you think I got unitl complete failure?

skynyrd Feb 8, 2008 03:15 PM

todd you should only need a draw straw and pump scott knows that fittings we need for a big line kit
