From what I have read (in this thread and others), the ECM is different for 2006, which is different from 2005, which is different from 2004, and so on.

What this means is that I think the hi idle was available starting in 2005 ECM's.

I know it was available on the 04.5 auto. It worked on mine, not sure about the update vs. enable, mine worked after I programmed it with the Bully Dog Power Pup

It is said to work the same as if you had an auto, except if a Jacobs engine break is installed, the limit will be about 1,350 RPMs. I don't know if this has been posted. If not, maybe it will help someone out.

In the meantime, time to make some more phone calls for myself.
Well, I called my dealer's parts counter and was given a quote of $435 for the Mopar P/N 05175417AA. Seems to me it should cost more like $4.35 and not four hundred and thirth-five dollars. I have not called Cummins yet with their part number to get a quote. The dealer should not wonder why I do as little business with them as possible.

The manual high idle works on my truck.

2004.5, 325HP engine, built Feb/04. Smarty and pin 22 of the ECM grounded.

I believe I've read that this will work with early 2004's with the 305HP engines. Perhaps late 2003 builds.

December 03 and later it should work if you enable the idle up feature in the ECU and ground the pin on manuals. Prior to December 2003 you will need to flash the ECU to overwrite the standard Cummins programming with the specialized Dodge programming that contains the idle up feature.

Per the TSB's this SHOULD work on ALL CTD's back to MY 1999. No one has bothered to try this yet and report back as it means getting a dealer involved to download the programming from their technet and flashing the ECU. Good luck to whoever volunteers to be the test subject.

From what I remember and ALL of the many threads and posts on the subject was that 03 and 04 it wasn't EVER gonna work.On 04.5 or somewhere in there there was a flash(download) to make that batch of trucks ABLE to enable that feature.05 and UP its just needed to be enabled.

So i guess the 03-04's are the only ones that dont have a type of high idle then. The 98-02's have 3-cyl high idle and 04.5 on up have high idle. Guess my truck is special

So from what the second tsb is saying, I could get the truck "reflashed" and it should work?
