Greetings!
I am glad to be here! I have a job that keeps me in China for 14-18 months at a time and when I return to the U.S. I have to travel as much as 10K miles in 3-4 months. For this reason I am looking to get a Ford e350 stretch and turn it into a mini-motorhome. I would like it to have a diesel in it. I would also prefer to start with an older van - maybe an '88 or right after they did the body change and build it up from scratch to get what I want in it.
I am anxious to learn more about diesels because I hear that the mileage will be much better. I also know that the 4bt is a hot swapper now, as well as other smaller diesels. I am anxious to know if you know of anyone who has converted an older stretch econoline - or even a dodge or chevy (extended version) for that matter. I would hate to go to all the $$ and trouble to put a 4bt into an econoline and find out that it will only do 50 mph and gets 18 mpg - the stock turbo V8's get about that kind of mileage. Thanks for any input you can provide. |
