When a lift pump fails...?
When the lift pump fails in one of the 2nd gen 24valves, does it fail gradually, or does it all the sudden stop pumping? I was running through town today fuel pressure normal, kinda got on it up a hill, come to a stop at a light and look up at the fp gauge to find it sitting at about 2-3psi. I was hoping my isolator went out or the gauge side line came loose or something (it happened before). But as I continued to baby it home, the gauge kept responding to my throttling it, wobbling between 3 psi and zero as i put pressure on the pedal. I didnt want to shut it off and have it not start in town, so when I got home I shut it off in the driveway, and restarted and the pressure came back up to normal... Is this my lift pump dying? maybe just a hiccup in the gauge (mechanical isspro, never had a problem before). Also the ride home was about 10 minutes and I kept off the throttle as much as possible, you think the ip is hurt much? BTW Walbro 392 and big line kit is being ordered right after this post, any suggestions as to where, I'm leaning towards Glacier Diesel. Thanks in advance!
If your gauge checks out ok, it sounds like symptoms of a bad LP. Mine (I know, 1stGen, mechanical, but still the same principle) woul dgive 7psi at idle, but halfway through 2nd gear with light throttle, it would drop to 0.
As for where to buy, I'd recommend a well known DTR/TDR sponsor, and someone with a good reputation for service after the sale. That counts for more than purchase price in some cases.

I had a lp quit at about 60,000 miles. I now have 150,000 and no problems with the new pump. I am a little to large to get up on top of the engine to replace this pump that is located in a rather bad location. My daughter that was 16 changed it out in about 2 hours with no experience. But I think it cost about $600. I did get credit from dodge when I returned the bad pump. I was in a location that had no dodge dealers and was 300 miles out of anchorage.
