vp44 installation instructions
Just got my reman'd vp44 from cumminsstuff and now I need to know how to put it on.
No instructions came with it, but I am confident I can do it if I have some guidelines as to how to put it on properly so it works the first time without damage Thanks, Kelly |
Black, do you have the old pump off?? If not good, first you need to take the oil breather off the front cover, in this hole you will be able to see, with the use of a mirror and flashlite the fuel pump nut, you'll want to rotate the engine so that the keyway on the pump shaft is at the top lined up with top dead center mark, when this is done you are ready to pull the gear off the pump, leave the puller on the gear after its pulled off the gear will not go anywhere, be very careful not to lose nut, washer or key down in the housing. After gear is off intake and throttle have to be removed. Then take the wiring plug off the VP44. Now take the fuel lines off the pump and engine. Now you just have to remove the bolts to the housing and bracket. Be careful not to lose key in housing. I hope this helps you,I did mine a while ago with no problems. I may have missed some details but I'm sure someone else will chime in. Good luck. Thanks Steve B.

awesome! thanks. I didn't even konw where to start. I am capable on a mechanical level, but I just blew all my money on the pump. No $ for a manual or anything.
If there are any more tips that anyone can think of or any special tools I will need I plan on tackling it in the morning. Thank You again, Kelly |
kind of ready to get started, I am wondering what puller I need for the gear on the pump and where exactly it is.
Thanks. Kelly P.S. is there anything else I should know before I tackle this all the way? |
