turns over but wont start

i have a 2000 dodge diesel. It'll turn over and over and over but no starting. If you spray wd40 in the intake itll start and run all day long. And also if you crack 2 of the injectors and bleed em out itll start up. Deisel tech told me i needed to replace the injector and lift pump but i am not going to spend that much money and still have a problem. I saw some fuel on the lines whenever i looked under the truck and i will check all that out tommorow but if anyone has ever had this problem any advice is welcome and needed.[dummy]

Any place that leaks fuel will also suck air and cause hard starting.
Find and fix the leak.

Also there is some kinda check valve or something the prevents the fuel from flowing back into the tank. Plus you might want to check ur fuel pressure. worse case is you have to either get the pump rebuilt or replaced. There could be a number of things that could cause this. Even dirty injectors can cause it.

I think you have a leaky line. Inspect them closely. What happens is you get air in lines that replaces the fuel in the injection pump, and you have no fuel getting into cylinders. Once you fix the leaky line, your injection pump will stay primed and the truck will start normally.
Still, make sure your lift pump is Ok by loosening up the line at the inlet of the IP and bumping the starter. The fuel should leak out actively for about 25 s. Better still, install fuel pressure gauge to monitor the LP pressure.
Stop by an Autozone and ask them to scan the codes on your truck. This should answer whether your IP does indeed need replacement.
And, welcome to the Forums!
