Truck won't tow past 75 MPH, tranny going out?
I have a 17 foot enclosed trailer that I tow/haul my race quads in to the MX races and recently have noticed that I cant get the truck to pull past 75 MPH!! Recent changes to the truck were a Triple Dog w/ Crazy Larry and new wheels/tires. I always tow either on the Tow/Economy setting or on the Stock setting....
Also my EGTs are through the roof once I get to about 75 too....anywhere from 800-1000 degrees. I'm completely lost. I dont have a tranny temp gauge though. I recently had the tranny fluid/filter changed in my truck as well...
Is my torque converter going out or what?
I used to be able to tow all the way up to 100 MPH when the truck was stock or with the Edge...
PLEASE HELP!

Can't help but ask, why in the world would you tow at 100 plus?
As to your power loss, what rear gears do you have?? Could the new meats be raising the ratio too much?
Boost still normal?

EGT's sound normal and you would be a fool towing anything at that speed. Please stay away from Arkansas if you are going to be driving like that...I have wife/kids in my truck.

Don't let any of these people get to you about your speed. They don't know the circumstances anyways.
That being said, when i tow i don't go slow either. Just the other day i wanted to see how fast i could get going uphill and let me tell you it was real close to 100 before i had to let off. At that point my egt's were 1400* which was pretty impressive from the stock turbo and crazy larry.
The tires wouldn't make that big of a difference in my opinion, but use your best judgement.

I dont tow at a constant 100 MPH....my point was to say that my power before was good enough to pull at that speed! Now I barely have enough power to tow past 75. I usually tow at speeds anywhere from 70-80 MPH...my trailer is very light even with 3 quads inside.
I was saying my EGTs were high because usually with the load of my trailer....at 70-75 MPH I'm between 650-750 degrees, if I push 80 MPH then I'll start cracking 800 degrees. Boost is still at normal levels...anywhere from 12-18 PSI. Push 20 PSI if I start reaching speeds at 80 MPH.
Power is still good without a load...
I'm un-sure of my rear-end gear ratios...
Do you really think the tires would affect the power that much?

Also....do you think the TripleDog might be de-fueling at 900-1000 degrees because thats when it really stops pulling. It just flattens out and wont pull anymore....

You hit that high towing?? I'm usually at 10 PSI daily highway cruising. I've pushed over 35 PSI a few times when I've really stuck my foot in it before but that was without a load...

If you put taller tires on your truck #1 you will loose torque. #2 your speedo will show that you are going slower than you really are so put them both together and you get 75 mph towing
