Truck Not Starting-sometimes/ Clutch In And Truck Starts Pulling

HELP!!! HELP!! I will explain this in girl terms. LOL
I think this is an issue with my cluth. Sometimes here lately, my truck will fire right up and otherstimes it just clicks. It is not the battery or starter. It is almost like the truck doesn't know the clutch is in and here lately, If I am at a stand still with the clutch in and in gear and my foot on the brake, the longer I have the cluth in, the truck acts like I am letting it out slowly and evenualy spins the tires (because I have the brake on and don't want to run into the car in front of me). I have to turn the truck off to get it to stop pulling. I know it is in the clutch, but what do you guys think it is in the clutch or what will fix it and est. cost. The clutch is in but it will just start going anyway-not right away but after 3-5 seconds.??? anyone experienced this?
Thanks!!!!

if it's clicking, it's not the clutch switch. A switch down there by the pedal to keep it from starting and taking off.

Sounds more like a starter solenoid issue.

How's your batteries and battery connections? A bad connection will do this too.

You may have two problems here, only they're happening at the same time and seeming to be one problem. The first, the intermittent start, points to bad starter contacts. This is very common in our trucks, and easily fixed. NAPA carries plunger/contact kits, or you can opt for a kit from LarryB(more $$, but better quality). The second problem would seem to be a failing clutch master cylinder. It'll work well enough to release the clutch, but the fluid leaks back past the piston seal and won't hold it released for long. What I'm not understanding is why you're getting wheel spin, as you said in your post. If you're holding the brake, and the clutch engages, the engine should just stall. As for cost, the starter contact kit is @$25/NAPA, @$40/LarryB, and a clutch master/slave combo(I'd recommend getting these as a pre-filled kit combo from Chrysler) should be around $200. HTH

Sorry. I Have A 02' 5.9 Diesel. The Wheel Try And Turn Eventualy (i Was On Grvel Hooking Up To A Trailer In Reverse) I Wanted To Let Out Of The Clutch And Press It Again But I Would Have It The Trailer Do I Just Killed The Truck. The Tires Did Spin Roughly But I Had The Brake On So It Didnt Get Very Far. I Comes On Graduly When The Clutch Is All The Way In And Then It Will Kill The Truck If I Keep On The Break. I Really Feel The The Clutch Has Somethin To Do With It Not Starting Because If Feels Different When You Push It In-you Can Wait A Minute And Push It In Again And It Will Fire Right Up.????? Thanks For You Input. Do You Know Roughly What The Labor Would Cost And How Much Work Is Involed In Changing Out The Master/ Slave Cylinder?
Thanks Again - I Am Not A Mechanical Girl So Your Help Is Appreciated!!!

I also agree with mrclean. You have two problems here. 1) Bad starter contacts or just dirty battery connections (hence the intermittent symptoms) Bad starter contacts are a common problem with these Dodge starters. AND 2) Clutch master cylinder either going bad or I hate to ask this, the fluid level is correct? If the level is low or there is air in the system, it could cause the symptoms you described.

When it doesn't start, does the starter even try? Or does it do the same thing as if you tried starting without the clutch engaged?

Replacing the clutch hydraulics aren't hard. I've done mine in about an hour. The upgraded and adjustable hydraulics from South Bend are about $275 total. Not sure how much standard parts are from the dealer or parts store.
