Trigger wire for PE pump

I'm getting ready to wire in my PE pump and I'm having trouble finding the trigger wire that the instructions are talking about. The only wires that I could think of that could be the trigger wires are the wires for the stock lift pump. On my truck, there was a plug that plugged into the back of the stock lift pump. When I installed my Black, I cut that plug off and just connected the two wires (pos. and neg.) from the Black to those two wires. Are those the wires I should use for the trigger wire? If not, does any body have a picture or a diagram or something that could tell me where to find it. I'm getting ready to install this thing tomorrow so I really need to figure out where this trigger is. I got all the other wiring figured out. I just need help with this. Thanks a lot yall.

Re:Trigger wire for PE pump

Use the positive wire going to your stock lift pump as your trigger wire.

Re:Trigger wire for PE pump

stow it away somewhere, insulate the end to avoid corrosion in case that you'll need it in the future.
AFAIK the PE has it's own ground.

Re:Trigger wire for PE pump

when you guys say "trigger" wire, is it just a turn-on or does it totally power the pump?? i have a pusher-pump ( unfortunately not a holley yet )..and i ran a switch in my cab w/ direct fused power to the battery...problem is, if anyone else drives it they may forget to turn off the switch (not that anyone else drives it... ) ....any suggestions?!?

Re:Trigger wire for PE pump

Wire it with a relay operated by the stock fuel pump.
I did it like that: (when I still had a stock LP)

I spliced a wire into the hot wire for the stock pump, through an 1amp fuse to the coil side of a relay. Other coil side to ground. Then the hot wire from the battery through a fuse to the swiched teminal on the relay and the other switched terminal to the pump. This will make the pusher run with the stock LP only, and avoid overloading the ECM that controls the LP.

HTH

Re:Trigger wire for PE pump

The ECM doesn't work anymore on my truck. We had the trigger wire for the pump hooked up to the stock trigger wire for the stock lift pump and it worked fine for a little while but then died. So now, everytime I want to start my truck, I have to go under the hood and stick the trigger wire into the battery, and to stop the truck, I have to unplug the wire from the battery (after I turn off the truck).
