What's the shop doing for the 1850? Stock OEM parts or upgrades. For the price is sounds like they are just rebuilding it stock. I'd call around and find a performance shop, plenty mentioned on this site, that will install performance parts so your not back in the shop in another 4 years.

My .02

Good luck.

I just had my tranny rebuild with upgraded parts from a cottman transmission near my house. he put an upgraded single disc billet converter red eagle clutches after market solenoids kevlar bands new steels all wear parts and said he uped the valve body pressure, he charged me $2900 showed me all the parts cause i asked to see them befor they went in and i would suggest you do the same cause i dont trust anyone! the truck is awsome now. with the low stall coneverter (forget the brand) is great in second gear and hits the torque curve better. Good Luck

PS dont do a factor rebuild i think youll be back in the same situation sooner than you would want to be

call dusty at hts he will explain exactly what you need for what your planning and will most likely give you one of the best prices on upgraded parts for the tranny.
