Will I notice a difference when I adjust the bands?

Just depends how far out they are. Maybe, maybe not. If it was just rebuilt they should be close, but I like to check them everytime I have the pan of just for good measure.

As far as the bands go, one word, Inch Pounds.

Don't try it with a Foot Pound torque wrench, you need an Inch Pound torque wrench.

Maybe this is a stupid question, so I apologize in advance: Have you tried comparing your messed up dipstick to a known good one? this way you could mark yours for correct "full" and "add" marks so you know if it is filled properly. This way even if you replace the parts mentioned above etc you'll know it's filled the right amount.

Ive already ordered a new one but I dont have the correct one to compare it to.
My main concern was that the stick was too tall and wouldnt seal at the top so dirt/dust was able to get inside the tube.
Thats a good idea though.

My 02 was sticking at take off, similar to what yours is doing. Occassionally, it would stick at the top of 1st gear instead of take off. I did some research on it and seemed to have fixed the problem by simply disconnecting the negative battery terminals, letting it sit for an hour, pressing the gas pedal to the floor slowly and releasing slowly, which resets something in the computer. Problem solved. I have a Superchips programmer on mine, so I wasn't sure if that was affecting it or not. You might also check your codes, which you can do by cycling the ignition 3 times and watch what comes up on your odometer. Don't turn the truck on, just turn it to the on position and off 3 times and see what codes come up. You can look to see what each one is online. I had 2 codes come up, 1693 and 1762, before doing the procedure I mentioned. After doing it, no codes.

I replaced the gov and sensor and its fixed! Thanks again Andy. You fixed it once again. You really should be a moderator at least in this section.

I did figure out what is wrong with the level. The dipstick goes down too far into the pan. Ill have to get a pan later that works with the truck. I guess until then I can fill it full and let it drain? It does have a overflow pipe right?

No overflow! Is it the wrong pan? I'd compare the depth of the pan to another that the dipstick works on.Either that or it has the wrong dipstick. Something sounds fishy there.

The fluid levels are set to provide proper immersion of the filter/pickup without foaming regardless of pan depth. I agree you need to compare dipsticks and/ or replace it The other issue could be the tube length is incorrect on the dipstick tube.

No overflow??? Crap. The problem is that I dont know what pan its from so I have no idea what dipstick I would need. Sounds like I need to get an new pan. Any recommendations?

Heres a picture of the pan....

I checked my tran fluid and it had bubbles in it. I assume that's the foaming that was referred to previously on that thread. What is that an indicator of?

Overfill I believe. Mine has very tiny bubbles in it when I check it also.
Dodge didnt think to put a over flow drain in........

But I think your problem is the same exact that I was having.
The transducer and solenoid are going out. Its a pretty easy fix.
I did it and im scared to death of auto trans.

Yeah I'm rereading this thread over and over until I work up the courage to do it myself. Took it by the dealer this morning and they wanted $105 just to look at it. Fluid level is OK, still red, not burnt smelling, but it has bubbles in it. I think I'm going to do what you did myself. Thanks for your replies. If I have any questions as I go along I'll post them.

Everyday - It looks like there is a dent in your pan? Can't really tell from the picture, but....? Did you buy a new dipstick and it be the same as the old one? By the gray paint, I would guess that to be a reman trans like you said, so that is one good thing! But the dent apprears to be right there where the dipstick goes in.. I would say new pan just by what I can see and if the dipsticks where the same.
