Question Totally Confused

Ok, I am completely at a loss here. I am not sure whether to leave this brass bolt in the bypass filter mount or if it should be removed.

Can't find anything on Amsoil's website. Only that this system should filter all the engines oil(14+ quarts) several times per hour. If this bolt is left in place, I don't see how this is possible considering the hole in the center of it is smaller than a #2 pencil lead. On the other hand, would taking this bolt out considerably drop oil pressure??? I tapped into the extra port on top of the stock filter housing next to the turbo feed line.

I have heard both to leave it in & take it out. I'd just really like to have this done correctly the first time. I'd would really appreciate someone who has experience with a single bypass install letting me know which way to go.

leave it in! it's designed to bypass a small amount of oil, if you remove it your pressure will drop!!!!!1

I agree. I don't have this system, but if that orifice isn't in place, the oil will gush from there like a fire hose, and oil pressure will be too low.

Yep he is right. The bypass system is designed to filter only +/- 10% of your oil that runs through it (very fine filtration). If you take that plug out you will overwhelm your filter and it will not function, thus removing the bypass from your system. You may get an initial pressure drop but it is a closed system so it wont last long. What you will do is render the by pass inoperable. I have the dual set up which has a spring loaded valve, same idea but it makes a slight buzzing sound. Yours should be very quiet. Congrats on the new upgrade, your oil will still look black but you will find on your testing that your oil will have a longer life. At least mine has. I have yet to need to change it but I run a winter and a summer oil so it gets changed anyway. My FIL currently has 470,000 miles on his DD. first thing he does when he buys a new car is change the oil and put a bypass in.

Thanks to all of you for clearing things up for me. Got everything in place & back together. Started up, let it run for 5 minutes or so & didn't notice oil spraying out everywhere so took that as a good sign. The oil pressure didn't drop at all, but I did notice a slower rise up to normal. Thought that maybe had to do with filling up the new lines. Checked around all the new fittings & connections; didn't see any signs of oil. So far, so good!!! Going to head out in the morning & get everything up to temperature & take another look.
